what's with all these new pizza shops anyway? I mean... no offense to anyone here who makes pizza, but why is it that pizza makers are like coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden? is it because you can buy the Chef Boyardee pizza kit at the store and make one in 10 minutes and think you're the greatest? no offense to anyone here who makes pizza, I'm just wondering. I've been eating pizza for 20 years and all of a sudden there's pizza makers everywhere.

i dont like pizza.
i had a pizza once and the whole idea behind mush on bread just kinda well puts me off.

Do you think its fair to sweepingly dismiss the work of people on the arbitrary basis that you assume they're only hopping on a bandwagon and you assume that they're not serious about what they're doing or how they intend to progress and you assume they took the easiest possible way to produce what they did?

I dont. I dont think its fair or reasonable to put a beginner off with a casual dismissal that what they're doing is 'probably' worthless, and unskilled meanderings.

Why? I still havent seen this so-called upswell in ambient music anywhere, despite the claims.

but not the discipline to write or play a proper song
who will be offering some random knob twiddling and calling it some form of ambient

And you think that because there are 'some,' that its fair to claim that any increase in the number of people doing this kind of stuff is automatically because they're taking shortcuts, and havent got any inclination to learn to do it the 'right' way?

What has someone's taste in music got to do with it? Are you claiming that the people who disagree with ahja only listen to ambient music?

implying that ambient is only for more intelligent people who are somehow 'trained' to appreciate it is elitist crap at best

As is implying that only people who know the 'right' way to do it are the only ones not doing it to be 'cool'.

if you like what you do and there are other people who like what you do consider your self lucky

...and if you're trying to start doing it, and someone starts telling you that you must be doing it to be 'cool' and are probably only twiddling knobs anyways because you cant really be bothered learning how to do it 'properly', should you consider yourself 'lucky' with that, as well?
