You're wrong - I do actually hate Massive X for this reason, and I really do have the final say on this. I don't think either sound sterile, and both are very capable of making beautiful, non sterile, sounds

I stopped using Pigments 4 after the UI fonts got small beyond readable.
Did it improve in v5, and in which direction?

I don't think the fonts ever were too small, and, you can resize the GUI anyway.Dencheg wrote: Tue Jan 23, 2024 5:12 pm I stopped using Pigments 4 after the UI fonts got small beyond readable.

Or was that some kind of bug I missed?

Nope. Only kind of. You can sidechain audio into Pigments now. It took me quite bit to find the place where you can then actually use the audio: it's in the utility engine in the Noise 2 slot.enCiphered wrote: Tue Jan 23, 2024 5:31 pm - external audio processing

Yes... sort of. A quick test suggest that I have to have incoming midi/notes to 'hear' anything, but in the utility section, there is an 'audio in' that can then be effected like any oscillator.enCiphered wrote: Tue Jan 23, 2024 5:31 pm - external audio processing

For example, in bitwig you can put it on a track after an instrument, assign the sidechain to that instrument out, and enable 'audio in' in the utility section. That 'just works'.
You'd have to 'drone' a midi signal to it to have it always 'processing' elsewhere, but definitely possible.

Still no update to the analog sound engine, which has terrible sounding oscillators?

This is what the manual says:enCiphered wrote: Tue Jan 23, 2024 5:31 pm - external audio processing

You can't use Pigments as a VST effect plugin.A top user request has been for Pigments to process external audio (from a track or live
input) through its filters and effects. This is now a reality, thanks to an alternate mode for
the second noise source in the Utility engine.

Really cool! Pigments can be used as a multi-effect plugin now. At least if you are using Bitwig
