...Why do you suppose they avoided wavetables for the oscs?
I mean, that was the FIRST thing I thought about doing to Twin2. ...It seems a pretty ... bold decision not to use them. I feel like it would have gone a LONG way to making it a top-tier synth.

I for one am grateful they didn't... Just what the world needs, yet another synth with wavetables.

I'm happy they did too. If I want wavetables I'll go to phaseplant.

Twin3 is still my favorite non-remake-of-a-classic software synth. It sounds great to me, and it's becoming the synth I turn to first.

Would you like to count the number of synths that don't have Wavetables compared to those which do?zvenx wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2024 5:09 pm I for one am grateful they didn't... Just what the world needs, yet another synth with wavetables.

I'd say what the world doesn't need is another synth that is locked to a handful of stale old waveforms.
If Twin 3 had wavetables I might have purchased it but without them it's just one of a thousand different analog wannabes.....

Well I actually bought it and love it like it is (well except for the bugs), and I would have less likely bought it if it was yet another wavetable synth.

Even if it were exactly as it is except for the addition of wavetables?zvenx wrote: Fri Jan 26, 2024 1:55 am Well I actually bought it and love it like it is (well except for the bugs), and I would have less likely bought it if it was yet another wavetable synth.

Yes, unfortunately those bugs are still therezvenx wrote: Fri Jan 26, 2024 1:55 am Well I actually bought it and love it like it is (well except for the bugs), and I would have less likely bought it if it was yet another wavetable synth.

Depends how much the factory presets (which yep is a huge factor in determining which synth i buy) reflected that difference than what it is now.zerocrossing wrote: Fri Jan 26, 2024 6:37 amEven if it were exactly as it is except for the addition of wavetables?zvenx wrote: Fri Jan 26, 2024 1:55 am Well I actually bought it and love it like it is (well except for the bugs), and I would have less likely bought it if it was yet another wavetable synth.

probably the same reason they avoided sample-playback, granular, stacked FM operators and all the other stuff that isnt the thing they were actually doing.Introspective wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2024 4:48 pm ...Why do you suppose they avoided wavetables for the oscs?
An idiot on Set Theory:

If it were a Rob Papen synth, they would include a little paint program so you can paint in your own oscillator.
But yeah, why not BOTH analog modeled oscillators and wavetables? Pugments does it, why not every other synth.
