yes...it's one serious big fat bastard for basslines and screamin' leads,if you have a sub and use the Pulse for sub bass you can watch the walls bend :hihi: ....also bucket loads of weird fx it also excels at(there is an auto random preset generator if you go above patch 99 or is it 40(only 40 user patches available...I can't remember)...part of it's creative power is in it's envelopes...tighter than the original minimoog and capable of biting your hand off.

If you overdrive it you can get some tasty distortion/overdrive saturation effects but keep the oscillators below 30 for this to work if I recall.

Mine is not being used at the moment as buggering about with other things right now.

Enjoy..it's a superb bit of kit...most of it is also real analogue..envelopes and oscillators but not the filter?...maybe someone else knows for sure what is and isn't?...who cares it has a marvelous sonic palette.

the whole thing is analogue - the only thing is the oscillators are not vco but dco - ie their timing is not analogue but digital - so it never drifts out of tune !

as for the other comment turn the oscialltors well past 30 all the time and overdrive the living hell out of em - you can get it to thump real hard - the sort of heavy square wave clunk of your speaker housings falling apart :D :D

Post

yes, dcos just like on the Matrix6/6R/1000

if you want to muck things up a bit tuning wise, there are plenty of modulation things that you can do to similate vco drift

but it's nice not to have to insert a tuning command every so often into your song like in the old days :)

anyway: CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I love love love Waldorfs!

BTW... is yours a regular or a Plus? E.g. - do you have audio input capability?

I've a regular one.

Thanks for the link, I'll need help for sure.
Do you think it'd be wise to get a MicroQ? there's one for a nice price around here.

Me, I would say HELL YEAH to the uQ. It's a phenomenal synth for sure and a lot cheaper (because overlooked) than some of the others out there. It can shake the rafters with its bass like a charging bull, and tear your ears with leads like a screaming banshee, or it can purr like a little kitten with smooth and silky pads.

Advantages... awesome sound, comb filter, a little taste of wavetables like on the Microwaves, and of course compared to the Pulse, you will have polyphony.

Well, as I said, I LOVE Waldorf stuff.

Basically, the uQ is like a Q without the sequencer, and without the PPG filter model.

I have two pulse+'s. Never got round to updateing the eprom. Wonder if its still possible. Someday I want to hear the sound of a 6 pulse polysynth.

They can be strapped together for polyphonic killing sprees.

Post

Polyphonic killing sprees... for sure that would be an awesome thing to have a polyphonic Pulse. From what I heard they tried that and presented it at a Musikmesse a couple years ago, but apparently there were some issues with it not being 100%.

Still, it would be cool to get several Pulses together and try it.

BTW, what kind of music do you make.

I'm into jazz/rock/funk/whatever thing. Would uQ be the right thing for me? Are there any sound examples on the net?
