For example, you'll know that you can't drop a VST as a midi effect in front of another VST in Live, and have to do track routing... not true with Max - you can write a simple wrapper (that can even let you select the VST) that is a midi effect and can therefore let you use sequencer VSTs in the same track as the instrument.

There are so many other things, but it's just 'handy' if you want to stay inside Live.
Now that would be useful : )

Just got my beta access.
I like the update so far.
Meld is a nice addition, like drift was. The scale degree tuning per oscillator reminds me of chord unison in mx. Quite useful.
Still missing stuff i'd need.
The tagging system does work pretty well for me, but i don't have 3000 vsts so maybe thats why.
The midi cc control is a welcome addition but i wish i could organise the first 4 macros assignments how i want.
Piano roll new functions, i was wondering if they would be some sort of gadget for only random ideas, but it's very usable and fast to use.

Yorrrrrr wrote: Tue Jan 23, 2024 2:52 pm It seems Ableton is considering improvements on working with audio/vocals, adding better pitch correction features through a device and/or ARA2 support. An email survey came this morning.
Having wavelab and melodyne built in to Live would elevate it to a new level…

Yeah. I basically do everything in Live, even mastering, but its not the best wave editor is it?

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

I disagree about meld especially after the latest two betas where they have improved the cpu on a lot of stuff. I have a few patches I’ve made with a few melds stacked on an instrument rack. Was hitting 7% on the meter. I had a lot of modulations going on too.

Yup, as of 01/23/2024
Meld presets with the BitGrunge oscillator now use less CPU power., the Bubble oscillator now uses less CPU power, the BitGrunge, FoldFM, HarmonicFM, SimpleFM, and Squelch oscillators now use less CPU power and reduced resonator filters’ CPU load by 5-10%.
This type of 'efficiency' tweaking makes me think its nearly ready!

I was a bit set aback by the new gray low contrast theme. (there is a high contrast option, and the old themes if you want)
Then i realised every time i click on something its panel gets outlined.
After a while, it helped me focus. Bit hard to describe. Some subtle and unconscious stuff ig.^^
Might not be everyones cup of tea, but i find it less tiring on the eye overall.

The song he plays at the beginning sounds a bit off, but some of what he generates later is better. Hopefully this will keep improving with each update. Wonder how it compares with Orb Producer---seems maybe better.

I realty like the Default with the high contrast option, sharp and easy on the eye- definitely more modern looking.

Do you have a dedicated mastering-chain? Any tips and/or insights about your mastering-process? Thanks
Not really, more like starting point. I use a grouped rack with the necessary basics.
Quite typical setup is clip -> (sat ->) compress -> eq -> (image ->) limit, the () are not necessary though usually.

EDIT: almost none are really necessary but I do clip and limit at least :-D
