We are happy to announce to you our new release: Chief Chorus

Image

Chief Chorus is a faithful simulation of the Boss® CE-2™, a late 70’s BBD chorus pedal.

Built around the MN3007 BBD chip, this pedal was the first compact chorus made by the Japanese company and replaced the previous CE-1™ sacrificing several features, mainly the vibrato and the stereo output.

Over the 13 years of its production, and thanks to its distinctive sound, this pedal became a solid classic.

We went further and added new features like trimmers to set the maximum rate and depth, tempo sync, stereo spread and balance of the chorus effect, allowing to set the pedal to act as a vibrato.

Just the right shade of coral blue

This is one I've been very much looking forward to and a total no brainer purchase for me. Thanks Luca!

How different is the CE-2 from the BF-2 from a circuit perspective? I think a few of us are hoping that one is coming soon. I always just kind of assumed that Roland/Boss would've just reused a big chunk of the CE-2 circuit for the BF-2 just using different delay times and adding a controls for the feedback and delay offset.

Instabuy, as is often the case with new Audiority releases! Love your work, man, great quality as always. Spread and Blend controls at the bottom are *chef's kiss*

Instabuy, indeed

- classic effect
- Audiority quality
- low intro price (esp. for existing customers)
- available in CLAP format (therefore ready for Bitwig’s unique voice stacking feature)
- highly useful extra controls

If it’s a classic BOSS, MXR, or EH guitar pedal, it is an instant buy here.

BF-2 will be coming, and maybe (hopefully) MXR-117.

Hopefully we’ll see MXR Phase 100, BOSS PH-1r, PH-2, and EH Small Stone at some point.

And a few slightly more obscure boxes that need some Audiority love:

Dytronics CS-5 Tri-Stereo Chorus
Marshall Time Modulator 5002 A System
Gerd Schulte Audio Elektronik Compact Phasing ‘A’

I'm nuts because I want a Gonkulator, and nobody's gonna make a Gonkulator plugin

Perhaps a thread to suggest pedals would be useful?
I do have a small wish list.

In case anyone is wondering, we do have Audiority's free Dr. Phase.

ArtsAcoustic's BigRock is said to be a good emulation.
[EDIT: see Funkybot's Evil Twin's warning below]

I'd like that one, too.

With a CE-2 plugin and good CE-1 crossed off the list, there are really only a few classic modulation pedals I'm still jonesing for plugin versions of at this point. Would love to see Audiority tackle any of the following:

Boss BF-2
EH Small Clone
Arion SCH-1 Stereo Chorus (if folks want a Dytronics because Michael Landau used one, he was also a big user of the Arion)
EH Small Stone
MXR M-126 Flanger/Doubler

Don't buy/use. Crash city with that plugin. Hasn't been updated in years. Super crash prone on Windows (which is impressive given what great lengths MS goes to maintain compatibility), and won't run on any modern Mac. I normally try to avoid talking about other products, in a release thread, but I don't want anyone wasting their money on BigRock only to find this out the hard way.

Dr Phase does the Phase 90 and Phase 45. The VINTAGE mode switches between Script and Block logo versions.

It does a great job at all 4 of those flavours. But the Phase 90 and Phase 45 are completely different from the Phase 100, which will give you that classic funky phaser that comes from resonance feedback and more stages that you won’t get from the 90/45 or the original BOSS PH-1.

The Phase 100 (and PH-1r / PH-2) are very different, magical beasts.

I wasn't disagreeing, I mentioned Dr Phase in case anyone reading wouldn't know it yet.
(BTW I have only one, the Custom Shop Phase 99 - a dual phaser)

Phase 100 is OTA based, which is another beast compared to "traditional" op-amps.

Glad to see you’ve looked into it.

Are you ready yet to declare 2024 the Year of Classic Modulation Pedals? :hyper:

(Its already gotten off to a great start!)
