My two win7 pc's lost their connection to internet at the same time. I searched for ways to solve it on my other working pc. Nothing helped.
I keep the old pc when i buy a new so i have a bunch on my local network.
The two win8.1 and two win10 works fine and are connected to the same switch as the win7 pc's. All pc's, including win7, can connect to each other and to a NAS i have.
.
I had ILok manager with sonivox and airmusictech plugins in it. They all helped me out within days and i thank them for that. The plugins is now deactivated on win7 and activated on a win10 pc.
.
I see in posts that other users seem to still use win7 without problem.
Am i alone in this.
Are Microsoft out to get me? :-D

What's the exact error message? What exactly did you try to resolve it?

How do you connect them to the Internet? Cable or wifi? Are they connected to the network (router) and can't get the Internet signal only and they can still communicate with the router?

Yes.*

Open a command prompt and try pinging a few sites to see how far you get. Unfortunately, you are probably broadcasting your Win7-ness on the Internet. Make sure you have the firewall turned on and the most modern browser you can run (like Firefox 117 LTS, which I think still runs on 7.) You could be being blocked by M$, your ISP, your browser, etc.

*Just kidding. Extended paid support for 7 is available until October. But Anything from XP SP3 and newer is deeply bound to calling home and it is possible that M$ could disable certain features, or an entire OS at some point.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Someone posted the exact same issue in the MS forum and they told them to update your Network drivers. They did and got online. (But, it seems like a bit of a trick to update drivers with no internet.)

It sounds like his W7 machines are still on his local network so he can download the updated drivers from another PC and then copy them over the network to the W7 machines. Or use a thumb drive or something.

Good luck. I had a PC that did this, but it was the wi-fi that went out. It had a LAN plug so I could get online with that, but had to drag the whole tower and monitor in the other room with the internet connection.

My local network consists of gigabit ethernet on everything, router, switch and pc's.
I tried lots of things to resolve it and wrote commands in the command window and they worked but didn't fix the connection block.
The win7 goes thru the same switch and router as the win 8 and 10.
It happened out of the blue and there's no sign of intrusion on any of my pc's.
I also tested another dns and proxy on Firefox.
If i go deeper without any clue to what is wrong it can make a total unrecoverable mess of the win7 pc's. I prefer to have them working on the local network so i can access their files.
.
I now use win10 for both my daw and surfing. It is the worst win version yet. I paid for my win10 but are now inspite of that getting ads at startup. For MS own products. Paying twice and get your positive attitud shot down. Creative people that can handle that...i envy them.

My Win 7 system hasn't developed any internet issues (yet, knock on wood).

First of all, if you haven't already, try rebooting your cable modem, router, and then the Win 7 system, one at a time, completing each before moving to the next, in that order (from the external world to your computer). (If need be, contact your ISP, tell them your issue, and have them do the reboot of your cable modem. Sometimes they can do a full reset that you can't do.) That sequence has solved most of the internet issues I've had over the years. Doing that would be at the top of my list, before trying almost anything else.

I haven't used Firefox in a while. I mainly use Chrome (latest supported for Win 7), and Edge (if Chrome has any site issues). If the above reboot sequence doesn't solve things, then consider trying an alternate web browser at least, no harm in trying that.

In any case, I know you said that it seemed to occur out of the blue, but try thinking back to when the connection was last working, and whether any system/software changes (programs/utilities/connections) might have happened directly or indirectly around that time, or any notifications or anything odd showed up around then (maybe a power outage/brown-out that could have caused a glitch?).

Important note: If you use firewall software (including M$s) updates/changes there are capable of locking you out of the internet. Your router may also have firewall capabilities. Unexpected changes in either are not a likely scenario, but not implausible.

OK, lastly, I've used computers/networks where ethernet cards and switch connections seemed to get glitchy after awhile. Loose cards, deteriorating/loose cables, dust accumulation, and occasionally cards/switches going bad are all possibilities for internet issues.

Hopefully, something in the above helps. Best of luck.

One of the win7 pc's have had nic glitches. Always solved by deactivating the nic and activate it again right after.
But the other one didn't have a nic problem which brakes the logic.
I'll check out one of the nic's "manana".

I've had that issue in the past where the firewall blocked the whole connection.

The issue is on your end.

Paste what ipconfig /all says in your cmd prompt.
Then try to ping the gateway by IP. Post the results of that as well.
Then ping 8.8.8.8. Post that as well.
Then ping google.com. Post that as well.

I no longer feel ashamed for running Win10, thank you.
