wishlist:
GUI - scrollwheel support for pulldown menu items

it would be great imho, if it would be possible
to use the scrollwheel (on a mouse - or 2-finger-drag on trackpads)
for navigating (alka scrolling) through pulldown menu items
without the need of point-click-drag-click behaviour

(u-he for example does this...fabfilter...and others...)

the items would be (as far as i can see):
grid, behaviour, filter types, delay beats, character types

1. Added Artist Presets from Count Eldridge
2. Fixed delay tails cutting off in some DAWs
3. Filter Params are now properly following TONE lock
4. Fixed Mono->Stereo Bypass in Pro Tools
5. Preset Name now stored in DAW Session
6. Clarified the behavior of the BUSS button in the tooltip

Thanks a lot, can confirm that cutting bug is solved. Thanks for fast fixing!💪🏻👍🏽🙏🏽

How does this compare to ValhallaDelay, Echboy, Replika etc.? A little too digital sounding to my ears so far...

I,for one, would suggest you in the case to study all the "character" parameters, ...very convincing emulation of most analog feels, many tape echo, BBD circuitry and other typical feedback distortions of the analogue era

Sh!t they’re on to me!

In all seriousness, the sort of founding idea of Newfangled Audio was that I didn’t want to do any analog emulations. Analog/Digital had stopped being a useful dichotomy to me and I am now interested in classifying things as interesting/boring. So what we do is try to understand what makes things sound interesting, then look for ways of modifying those methods to create new interesting sounds. So we studied the mechanisms behind take echoes and bbds, but we explicitly don’t model them, instead we learn from them and try to make something better.

If you must have a tape echo sound Valhalla and Echo Boy are great options, Sean and Ken are both close friends. We were eschewing modeling and focusing on designing something interesting, inspiring, and easy to use.

P.S. here’s some of our research on one of our techniques.

Here here! More of this, please. I love a good analog emulation, but I personally feel like that’s been nailed, at least to a degree that satisfies me.

Back in the 80s, I started moving my guitar rig away from analog effects and towards digital. There really wasn’t any good drive and distortion effects… yet, so I stuck with analog for those, but a lot of my modulation effects, delays and reverbs started coming from a Yamaha REX50. (A weird wedge shaped permutation of the SPX90) I literally disconnected my spring reverb tank, as it was really just an antenna for noise at that point.

My stance is more balanced now, and I do enjoy the sound of analog effects, but between the ones you mentioned and Arturia’s FX Collection, I think I have a good representation of everything I’d ever want. Bring on the digital.

Yeah, I should say, we’re not trying to sound digital per se. Just fresh, interesting, and good.

I'm testing this and liking it a lot, with one issue: I'm getting some static/glitching when using Recirculate on a bus while playing Pigments or Twin 3. Has anyone else experienced this? Doesn't happen if I switch in Valhalla Delay, for example.

This is in Reaper 7.09 on Windows 11. This is a test project with only about 2% CPU use, so it's not maxing anything out.

@nick: maybe try increasing the buffer size for your audio interface?

Cpu hungry synths plus a cpu hungry effect is gonna make your computer work. If it’s not a newish computer you may need to increase buffer size as mentioned and/or use audiogridder to distribute to more cores (with a small latency hit like increasing buffer size - but with much more impact on lowering the cpu usage but also much more comparative complexity).

Any plans to add more modes to Recirculate? Would be great if it had a reverse delay. Cheers.

+1

a full modulation (lfo/adsr/mseg/etc) matrix like in pendulate or fabfilter timeless or byome/triad
or u-he mfm or gs-dsp would be super-cool :-)

Tried that, it didn't solve the problem. Not sure what's going on because it doesn't seem to be taxing my system.

That why i think incorrect to refer to low CPU load values while use Reaper, he has some his own special system of usage distribution. So, shows not always real picture of what occurs (along with low usage values though).

Ok, when I look at the Win 11 task manager, Reaper is using about 4.8% CPU with Recirculate. Without, it's using 3.2%. That's a good difference but shouldn't be enough to start causing audible issues, should it? I'm not sure how else to measure it.

This is with a 24/48 project at a 512 sample buffer since I'm just doing playback and no recording currently.
