Real ambient I would say is Steve Roach, Vir Unis, James Johnson, Sonic Mandalas, Pete Namlock, etc..
Sure there are many branches of the ambient genre, which I'm not gonna ignore if it's good. If it's a bit new age, then fine... but it's still an ambient space.

Then you bare your throat for a good slashing when you compliment Bluedad for a track he did that uses a Reaktor ensemble I shared with him that falls under your blanket of 'randomizing instrument'..
