What a beautiful, clear interface!

What's wrong with the interface? It looks fine to me, and I'm not even wearing my glasses.Vortifex wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 10:46 am It does sound very good. A word of warning though. UAD Connect requires authorisation either online or via dongle. On several occasions authorisation has failed for me, causing the dreaded blurry interface of doom seen below, but even worse it prevented the entire project from loading. Once it even decided to unregister the plugin in the middle of a session. Perhaps I've just been spectacularly unlucky.

Heh!
One problem with the UADx plugins I found is that I went to load one and the internet had gone down, so the plugin, which authorises via iLok Cloud in my case, obviously couldn't authorise. *But*, even when the internet came back, while different UADx plugins could authorise, that deauthorised plugin would stay deauthed, even if you removed it and loaded new instances (likely because it was cached in that deauthed state or something) - I think even quitting the DAW and re-loading it didn't make the plugin able to authorise, from memory I think I had to reboot. Which is obviously not great...
I just can't bring myself to spend £60 on another iLok at this time (I have a V1 iLok already, but you can't use those any more). Individually rainbow coloured or not.

ILok plugins should ALL have a "grace period" ie give users for example 8h use a month even if disconnected from the web.
Random value but the concept would save many people from hassle once in a while.

rely on internet at your own peril. Rest assured one day it will be "inaccessible"

Wayford released a Prophet-5 skin for PolyMAX. I prefer his Juno skin for usability but the Prophet is more similar to what the PolyMAX actually is.

Yeah, it's basically an unrestricted demo - I kinda like that... I guess I'll jump in to see whether it might be any relevant once they come to their senses and allow machine-bound authorization.

What is the difference between an unrestricted demo and the full version? Are you saying this isn't a full license?jens wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 9:55 pmYeah, it's basically an unrestricted demo - I kinda like that... I'm saying Ilok Cloud is suitable for extended testing but not really for any serious useage.art&sound wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 10:04 pmWhat is the difference between an unrestricted demo and the full version? Good point. His Juno skin is $10 and I think it does a better job of making PolyMAX easier to use.

My opinion and experience is that it's perfectly suitable for "serious usage", unless you have a poor/unreliable internet connection, in which case, you shouldn't choose an authorisation method that uses the internet.jens wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 10:22 pm I'm saying Ilok Cloud is suitable for extended testing but not really for any serious useage.
And yes, it's a full license, and also yes, I'd prefer machine authorisation too but I think that's unlikely to happen within the next few years.
If I couldn't use my UADx plugins "seriously" I'd have already bought a new iLok by now.

My opinion and experience is that I shouldn't use tools that require an "authorization method that uses the internet" (which basically already is a hell of an euphemism right there) period.
Especially not since there's a myriad and a half of alternative options available.
