Hello,

I have various reverb plugins, such as LS, Relabs, TC 6000, and UAD, with LS Cinematic Rooms being my current favorite. I'm impressed by its user-friendly interface and exceptional output quality. Recently, I decided to explore Altiverb during its trial period, dedicating several hours to it yesterday.

While Altiverb 8 is undoubtedly indispensable for ADR/foley work (the snapshot automation feature is great) and boasts high-quality results, I've encountered some challenges. Regrettably, it required significant tweaking to achieve a pleasing result on a single piano track, leading to a bit of disappointment. While recognizing the differences between convolution and algorithmic reverbs, LS, in my opinion, outshines Altiverb in terms of sound quality, versatility, and responsiveness. The Altiverb GUI tends to lag, and theres a noticeable delay when loading IRs from an SSD.

Considering these factors, I'm leaning towards not including Altiverb 8 in my arsenal.

I'm curious if anyone has successfully integrated Altiverb 8 into music production (not just POST). What strategies do you employ to achieve fast and satisfactory results with Altiverb 8?"

Regards
Mike

As long-time user of Altiverb 7 XL, my experience is similar. While it's certainly great for selection and quality of impulse responses it's quite outdated and sluggish. We are still using it for post and it's great for quickly finding the right space for the scene. Nowadays Cinematic Rooms is our go-to verb. It has great sound depth and surround propagation feels just right. Above that it is also quite easy to tweak. We use a combination of the two. Looking forward to trying the new Altiverb 8.
