It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

Can believe it. Fist couple of hours playing with it and mainly using Drift. All very nice so far.

Only moaning I know about is the keyboard shortcuts getting trashed for accessibility improvements. They left out a few vital ones in the carnage of it all and have promised to reinstate them. Specifically the toggle Detail View command.revvy wrote: Fri Feb 02, 2024 8:45 pm _Finally_ onto the beta.

Beyond that it's pretty great, I'm impressed, maybe enough to permanently move back to Live, definitely getting the upgrade.

Indeed. I’ve been on Live since a free cutdown L2 and haven’t been as excited about a release since L4.machinesworking wrote: Fri Feb 02, 2024 11:32 pmOnly moaning I know about is the keyboard shortcuts getting trashed for accessibility improvements. I think its amazing, best browser I have used in any DAW (better than Bitwigs which I used to love)Yorrrrrr wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 12:37 pm What do you guys think about the browser changes? I’ve seen moaning about it online.
I have Live Suite everything is already tagged- that's 10's of thousand of pre-sets and samples tagged by type many useful tags including 'key' etc and of course you can make custom tags. Everything can be hidden if you don't use it.
You can now make almost unlimited custom collections that show in your library, so simple, do a complex custom search or even do simple as something as selecting a maker (say UHE) then press the little '+' button and you have a custom folder with everything that showed up in the search in it!
The find similar sound function in a DAW browser is revolutionary. From replacing drums in drum rack (like XO/ATLAS) to finding similar pre-sets (you can click a sample and it will find a synth preset)...it also seems to use this tech to auto tag your own samples!

One browser feature that would be amazing, but is probably not easily done, would be VST presets shown in the browser, including a sound preview, just like Ableton's built-in instruments. Imagine how much more powerful sound similarity search would be....
Speaking of sound similarity, I really hope they add a button or option to look for similar sounds directly in the arrangement.

I have definitely missed this somehow - where is the + you are mentioning that lets me do this?SLiC wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 1:19 pm

I see the custom searches but I didn't know this existed (and don't see a way to do it)...

The border that says 'results' has a clear button and a '+' button...that's the one you want- game changerchroma wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 3:24 pmI have definitely missed this somehow - where is the + you are mentioning that lets me do this?SLiC wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 1:19 pm

Thanks for this…. Finally got back to try it. Was confused at first but then I realized that this only works when searching in the database sections, not when you are somewhere in places (eg the user library). Sort of makes sense I guess but also seems like an oversight…SLiC wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 3:37 pmThe border that says 'results' has a clear button and a '+' button...that's the one you want- game changerchroma wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 3:24 pmI have definitely missed this somehow - where is the + you are mentioning that lets me do this?SLiC wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 1:19 pm

There have been a few questions about Cytomic’s involvement with Live 12: I haven’t worked directly on any devices, but did deliver another chunk of tech a while back (April 2023?), the first of which has shown up in Drift as the filter Mode II, which is the SD (simplified detail) MS2 4 pole filter. The other filters in Live are mostly the MD (medium detail) versions which take a little more cpu, the SD versions are a better fit for highly polyphonic synths, and are as close as possible to the MD in sound. There are still things I’ve delivered which are yet to appear, and I’m not sure what form or if/when they will, Ableton have been busy with many things.
I love Live 12 and the Push 3, Ableton have done a great job. The new core midi editing features are excellent, and having knob based modulation not take over the destination knob means I can actually use this feature now, which is excellent. Push 3 with ADAT lightpipe means I can interface to my modular with the ES-8 without the need for seperate soundcard, and the Push 3 as a standalone midi / cc sequencer with much more powerful song composition options than eurorack sequencing options. I’d like to see being able to edit step sequence / curve information from one of the CV Tools devices, although you can edit parameter automation type events for a similar result, something dedicated would be nice.
Missing in Live 12 from my point of view is having latency compensated song position information sent to devices (post latency generating devices). Currently you have to create a new track and have your devices that rely on song position information first in the chain before anything that generates latency which is not ideal. I previously pushed for latency compensated automation and midi, which thankfully Ableton fixed, but song position information is still broken.
