Ok folks....here's the deal. After reading a thread posted by Lionsdream that gave us the idea, Zvon and myself have decided to organize an official effort to benefit the people of south east asia. We are still hammering out the exact details of how it will go....and i'm waiting on some responses from a few companies.....BUT, Here is the basic concept...

--- We will be asking for ALL of you to do your best to patch your favorite synths......We will compile what we recieve weekly, seperate them into synth-specific folders, and "Sell" that weeks bundle to anyone interested....ALL of the money (net sales after paypal fee's are deducted) will go to various relief efforts like red cross, etc...etc...So, in example.......we will get together as many patches as we can for ....let's just say for our purposes: Wusikstation.....We take all the patches we've recieved at the end of the week, bundle them up and slap them in a paypal online shop....you will then be able to download the bundle of patches for a minimum donation of, let's say 5 US dollars.....really, whatever you can afford to spare is appreciated though....anyway, Then at the end of that week....we take all of your contributions and send'em over to the red cross...or whatever fund we're donating to that week. Does this sound appealing to everyone? Well, we're doing it anyway.....So....How can you help????? Here's what we are gonna need for sure....(I'll update this onnce we've got the details hammered out)....

1). Any and All Sound Designers who are willing to put some time and talent each week into making patches for vsti's (ANY VSTI WILL DO...FREE OR COMMERCIAL..it doesn't matter.) That we can make the preset collections out of.

2). We want to advertise the effort with a banner.......First off, any one that's good in graphix design and can do a good flash or html or whatever banner in a short amnount of time will be needed. ALSO, WE NEED HELP FROM WEBMASTERS OF COMPANY AND COMMUNITY SITES LIKE KVR, PATCH ARENA, TRAXMUSIC.ORG, DSP-EVO, etc..etc..TO DONATE ADVERTISING SPACE FOR THE BANNER....ANYTHING YOU CAN OFFER WILL BE MORE THAN APPRECIATED.

3). We need people to send us information on any and all charities and relief efforts that are currently at work in south east asia......Please include website's, postal addresses, and Phone Numbers for each submission.

Now, if you'd like to get involved and can help us out in any of the above categories Please email us with which one of the above you can provide us with and or any other information you feel is necassary at one of the following email addresses:

1. tsunamireliefeffort@totcproductions.com
2. info@lesproductionszvon.com

:help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help:

Thank you for your time....and make sure you keep your eye on this thread as updates will be posted here.

Peace! 8)

I'm sorry to finally say this, but wouldn't it be more direct for people to give to whatever agencies without expecting anything in return?

Yes it would be more direct.....That goes without saying...That's not the point though, this is a way for us all to get involved and make our talents and hobbies work in favor for someone elses benefit....The "Band-Aid" CD and Concert helped raise alot of money for a good cause....as well as lots of other efforts...does this mean they should not be carried out and someone should simply say "Please send them some money"....not at all.....it gives people a little more incentive to give what they can.....and makes it fun in a way. Let's not make a flame war out of this please....it's an honest effort to help people recover from a terrible tragedy...nothing more.

Peace! 8)

Addendum to ToTc reply:
Yes it would be and of course we encourage people to do it. Liondream's idea is that people who cannot contribute money can contribute patches, see the original thread:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=68871

So anyone can contribute, even if only one patch for any softsynth.

Found this thread! Thanks for taking up the gauntlet, guys!!!

Havran, yes YES of course, indeed it would be more direct to just donate some money and some of us already have.

But...

On the other thread some people posted that they would like to help but for various reasons are unable due to low funds, no funds, etc., etc.

So I thought this might be a way for those people who might be short of funds to still be able to do something really positive that would indirectly lead to funds being raised. So, if they can't contribute money, they can contribute patches which will then wind up being turned into a contribution.

I mean, you can't send patches to the Red Cross after all. :)

Ahh, I type to slow... totc and zvon, you beat me to it! And much more eloquently I must say.

Are you guys coordinating with Dangerous Bear and some of the people like William on the other thread?

If nobody else has come forward I can do a banner, though maybe not with animation - although I do have all night to figure out how, lol.

I'm a 2D graphic artist at my day job.

What's a good dimension? Pixels by pixels? On the Mac it's easy peasy to just grab a banner and use it as a template, but I'm on a pc at home so it doesn't work that way. :(

No, we are not affiliated with Dangerous Bear or Williamk...although we fully support their efforts as well.

Sure, if you'd like to do a banner that'd be fine......See the KVR Advertising rules for Banners as this is the criteria we will be restricting it to.....it'll give you all the info you need on pixels, total file size, etc..etc..etc...Check it out HERE

Please email all banners, patches, etc...to one of the 2 addresses mentioned at the beginning of the thread.

Thanx! 8)

 Cool idea, would love to contribute but suck big time at sound design. Would some PodXT patches be oke? I suppose I could whip something up in Crystal, but I'd rather supply something usefull :D . Check back later.

Any kind of patches and presets are welcomed. They don't have to be the greatest patches ever made, as long as you like them yourself or that you think they can be useful. They should be clearly identified though, meaning for each patch or group of patches, tell us to which softsynth, FX or piece of equipment they belong.

Also, of course, these patches have to be your own creation, even if you just randomize the parameters.

You can send as few or as many as you want.

You can email them to the following address:
info@lesproductionszvon.com

Thanks to everyone

I think that what Y'all are doing is excellent, and I'm glad that you're putting it together. I will certainly participate with some patches.

The basic idea seems to me to be that we can and should make the special effort of simply giving, but at a deeper level, we should give ourselves. That means you give your time and your talent, and that you set something up within the rhythm of your life itself to route some of your activities' output to helping in your community, which in this case is the gloal community and specifically the peoples of the Indian Ocean and south Asia.

This is what underlay my pledge of 25% of my profits, my posting of the Wusikstation loop SliceKits with all of those monies going to the Red Cross, and will also be the basis of my participation in this project. Beyond this emergency, it seems to me that it is a duty to somehow find a way to direct some of the fruits of one's efforts for one's self to the uplift of those in need, from within those very self-interested acts themselves.

The idea of putting together these charity patch banks is therefore an excellent step in that direction. It is also a good way to fully mobilize all of our community assets as it is true that some have more skill and time to give than cash. This translates that positive energy of those folks into the funds so desperately needed for the recovery effort.

It was with not little trepidation that I started this yesterday, as it is one of my deepest beliefs that charity should be private and anonymous. I could have given my 25% of January profits in that prefered unseen way. And if it had been a matter of giving a few dollars to a family displaced by fire here in my city, I would have. But due to the scale of this unfolding disaster, I thought it was important, indeed essential, that the whole world respond, and I do what I can to make that response happen. I wish to thank again everyone who has participated in the relief effort throgh the Dangerous Bear programs. These will be continuing.

What Zvon and Totc are doing is taking the spirit of what I have meant to do to another level, and bless them for it.

Now please, everybody, get on board.

I applaud these efforts. Hats off to you guys. Be seeing ya on the other side of paypal. Incidentally, I contributed to Doctors without Borders - you may want to consider them as a possible go-to. It sounds as if disease is going to be the next Horseman to ride through the area. Needless to say, I have no affiliation with the organization - just seems like they do good work and will have a major presence in the s.e. asia area.
