I'm also farely sure that UncleE was not offended and knew quite well that I wasn't suggesting that he needed an ease of use improvement. You do you, I'll continue LOLing over here.
Lol you went from "I don't want to be that guy" to leaning into being That Guy in ONE post! That's what I get for taking posts in good faith here :dog:

Fortunately, for me it has machine authorization (cloud does not show as an option, see screenshot). I think I recall somewhere in the install process there was an option to choose cloud?

Big thanks to @ericzang for this post, and to others for confirming that UAD is moving in the right direction with machine authentication. I just (finally) installed the free LA-2A, and it indeed allows for three licenses with no internet required after initial activation.

I didn't say I wasn't going to be that guy, I said that I don't want to be that guy. You know, like I don't want to duck out of work early, but there I am, doing it. I'm counting some beads or some shit right this very minute.

has anyone else managed to get it authorised via machine method instead of cloud/dongle?

I have :tu:

windows? macos?
when did you activate it?
did you have another freebee licence activated already?
or did your existing license get upgraded?

Post

Someone might have mentioned it already but you get a licence free at the moment with any purchase from Plugin Boutique

Post

I'm trying to get my post count up, please ignore. I need to leave good feedback for some (many) plugin purchases

I'm on Windows, I got it for free after buying something from Plugin Boutique. It gave me a code to register on the UA website. I already had an account from getting a different free plugin a few months ago. So after registering it on their website, I then activated it with UA Connect, which was already connected to my iLok. It activated it on my local machine, not the iLok Cloud.

The freebie plugins don't use iLok Cloud, likely due to some combination of a) iLok Cloud may have fees because of the ongoing server costs to manage the cloud session that UA don't want to pay on a free plugin, and b) UA are less paranoid about piracy on freebies for obvious reasons, therefore are happier to use the less secure machine authorisation method.

I doubt they have any plans to go machine authorisation for the paid-for native plugins any time soon.

Strangely, the only plugin I have on iLok Cloud is a permanently free one (Heatwave by Slate Digital)
