I'm one of those people who endlessly browses through presets, but honestly, it's exhausting, and very time consuming, and I never really get what I want in the end. At some point I really need to get into sound design, but I find classic synths are hard for me to get into because they are so abstract. I really prefer UIs that can show me graphically what is going on when I turn all those knobs. The UX of Zebralette looks fantastic!pdxindy wrote: Sun Jan 28, 2024 7:44 pm Lots of people who only use presets (synthesis and/or samples) will spend quite a bit of time auditioning those presets/samples. Someone might listen to dozens of basses or dozens of tom samples to find one that suits them in that project.

I will see how it is laid out when I actually get to play with it . hopefully not in another decadeAtlatnesiti wrote: Fri Jan 26, 2024 8:35 pmAbsolutely brilliant. Using v.2 pretty much on every project but v.3 takes it to the next level![]()

agreed .Today we need a lot of controll over parameters , sound design . use it if you need it or simple edit or just pick ready presets . Urs , please let us automate as many features as design of the synth allows .Urs wrote: Sun Jan 28, 2024 4:52 pm It is a synth made for that moment/thing/situation where that level of control is required.
It is however possible to completely ignore the depth and stick to the simple editors on the main UI.

Yeah, the Zebralette 3 UI is visually useful. Having the waveform curve overlay the audio scope is very helpful. Of course there is some learning curve to use the various tools, but I'm quickly finding it straightforward in use. I particularly appreciate that I can get to a subtle level of control with higher level tools and not need lots of meticulous editing to do it. Z3 is well designed that way.magog wrote: Wed Jan 31, 2024 5:41 pm I really prefer UIs that can show me graphically what is going on when I turn all those knobs. The UX of Zebralette looks fantastic!

Quick note - this gets a little confusing, imo - could we perhaps refer to Zebralette 3 in shorthand as "ZL3" or something, and leave "Z3" to refer to the full Zebra 3 product?
Otherwise there's lots of "Z3" talk and it's not always clear what's being referred to, even when there is overlap between the two...

I've been making sure to type out Zebralette at least once. ZL3 is a good idea. I tried out z3 and Z3 but was not satisfied with the differentiation.
But also, you can be sure with any of my posts, that it is about Zebralette 3 cause that is all that exists. There is no Zebra 3 yet.

Sure, but I'm not just talking about your posts, or this thread - I mean, just generally on the forums. This thread just prompted me to mention it. Z3 as a concept does exist, and people do talk about it. And now ZL3 exists, so people are talking about it as well, so there's a need for clear differentiation imo - otherwise people might start getting the idea that Z3 is free for all and released in the next few months...pdxindy wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2024 6:30 pm But also, you can be sure with any of my posts, that it is about Zebralette 3 cause that is all that exists. Thanks... never had the chance to play with an FS1R, though I would have happily taken the opportunity.magog wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2024 8:22 pmNice work!pdxindy wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2024 4:51 pm Couple more...

CPU can be really bad atm. Large parts are unoptimised while we gather feedback. Some optimisations that are tried and tested here - which reduce CPU by factor 2 or 4 on modern CPUs - do not compile on Windows yet and thus are switched off. We hope to enable those later on during beta testing.
For Zebra 3 I have an option in mind that should generally be as fast as Hive + OscFX. This option - which I haven't even implemented yet - won't be available in Zebralette though.

Choices are great. That said, I think a high quality optimized mode that might even eat a lot of cycles is always a good thing to have. I wouldn't mind an even higher quality mode for diva or repro (I think repo sounds sometimes better at 96khz sample rate, that might be a hint that there is still room for improvement by an higher quality mode).
Most of the time I just need one or two really good sounding synth tracks and that's it. In some cases it's just about the quality for me and you can also freeze. We also do record external synth. And it will help with ageing. The devine mode in diva is not that demanding nowadays.
