Yeah, 202 and 101 were great wee synths but they're really not unique nowadays. Any number of synths do much the same thing, and I've certainly heard sw that's good enough.Uncle E wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2024 8:05 pmMC-202 is lovely through an analog delay. Great little bleep-bloop sequence machine. Great basses, too (obviously), but like you said, it's not so fun with that sequencer.kritikon wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2024 7:54 pm I considered it as a replacement for my 202, which I like but hate the godawful Roland X0X sequencer. I never bought one as I rarely use the 202 if I'm honest with myself
That said, I'm not sure it or the MS-1 are worth dealing with when TAL-Bassline-101 and Model 82 sound so good.
How many Behringer Synths should one buy?

Exactly the same problem with my AJ1 - Keys sound over midi save for one key, some of the keys don't work at all, though some will if you press the octave switch.kritikon wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2024 11:18 pm
Oooh, thanks for posting those vids.. I haven't got time at the moment but I'll have to have a look. Hopefully it'll give me some clues to poking around in mine. It's the keyboard that just died, and last time I checked I could still play it over midi etc, so probably just some easy connections. I'm no electrical engineer, but the way I see it - even if it goes Poof! in a big cloud of smoke when I prise it open, it can't be any worse than the not-very-ornamental piece of junk it already is.

No loose wires, connectors, chips whatever, and original V1.0 rom inside.
I would sell if it worked properly.

For me, the 101 was never that unique in terms of sound. It's a CEM followed by a Roland IR3109. However, I loved them back in the day because they are great as a live synth. The sequencer is great for programming basslines quickly live. All of the sliders in a row are also great for two handed real time adjustment. There are a couple of other features that add to the live appeal.kritikon wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2024 8:15 pmYeah, 202 and 101 were great wee synths but they're really not unique nowadays. I've had an MS-1 and sold it(took up too much room so I replaced with SH01a), a TD-3 and sold it(didn't like the blue color scheme - dumb reason, I know) and now a Crave(absolutely love, would never part with). I want an Edge really bad. I say have as many as sound good to you.

Are any of the cheap Behringer guitar pedals any good? I see they are made of plastic so will likely break if stomped on but won't be doing any stomping. Again, my interest is feeding stuff through them to warm them up or change the sound in a positive way.

Edge is worth the price of admission. Crave is a good partner for the TD-3. I love the TD-3 MO and won't part with it, ever!Moe Shinola wrote: Tue Feb 06, 2024 8:35 am I've had an MS-1 and sold it(took up too much room so I replaced with SH01a), a TD-3 and sold it(didn't like the blue color scheme - dumb reason, I know) and now a Crave(absolutely love, would never part with). The Chinese pedals are better. The MM-Silver is a good one to start with.egbert101 wrote: Tue Feb 06, 2024 10:09 am Are any of the cheap Behringer guitar pedals any good? Managed to find a picture of the insides. Dead simple, good quality, made of metal, what could possibly go wrong.Uncle E wrote: Tue Feb 06, 2024 12:32 pm The Chinese pedals are better. The MM-Silver is a good one to start with.

I've had a couple and had no issues, maybe not for heavy live use but if you appreciate that (sounds like you do) then they sound fine to me. The superfuzz is great, the analog delay is noisy like all of them cheap analog pedals but has a certain character. These were with guitar as opposed synths but SNR should be better if anything.egbert101 wrote: Tue Feb 06, 2024 10:09 am Are any of the cheap Behringer guitar pedals any good? I'm in overthinker mode. Too much thinking it over and no just getting on with making music.GaryG wrote: Tue Feb 06, 2024 12:48 pmI've had a couple and had no issues, maybe not for heavy live use but if you appreciate that (sounds like you do) then they sound fine to me. Make sure to get the one with four knobs (Gain, Volume, Bass, Treble).egbert101 wrote: Tue Feb 06, 2024 12:46 pm Managed to find a picture of the insides. Dead simple, good quality, made of metal, what could possibly go wrong.

It is on amazon usa, but I'm in uk, so would take a month to arrive. But now I'm interested in that Bestie for now. And then there's Analog Heat+FX... It's all getting ridiculous!Uncle E wrote: Tue Feb 06, 2024 7:33 pm Make sure to get the one with four knobs (Gain, Volume, Bass, Treble).

The Bestie or Syntakt get my vote.

I’m seeing mm-silvers on uk eBay for about 27, supposedly from Middlesex so shouldn’t incur duty… though when I see delivery of a couple of weeks I assume it will be from china.egbert101 wrote: Tue Feb 06, 2024 7:38 pmIt is on amazon usa, but I'm in uk, so would take a month to arrive.
