VREV-63 SURF SPRING REVERB RELEASE

Image

SURF SOUND, INC.

The VREV-63 is the ripping reincarnation of the legendary tube driven spring reverb from the sixties: the godfather of surf guitar sound! Hooked up in front of an amp, the drippy and splashy sound of this mysterious box has inspired countless reggae, dub, garage, rockabilly, jazz and spaghetti western artists. Play off the hook on incredibly long and inspiring reverb tails!

REAL THING

Reverb intensity and time are set with the Dwell knob which controls how hard the springs are hit by the input signal. The Tone control allows the treble to be dialed back to just the right degree of brightness. A fundamental yet switchable part of the lush sound is the famous tone suck effect impacting high frequencies, emerging from the authentic emulation of the tone and mixer circuits.

MOD KICKS

Just like the original, the flexibility of the VREV-63 is greatly enhanced by some popular modifications. This includes the C10 capacitor mod for a deeper and richer reverb sound, easy tube rolling between a NOS 6K6 and the hotter 6V6, and a selection of three different spring tanks. And hey, enjoy kicking the reverb all night long without wiping out your precious hardware!

PARTY WAVE

Its juicy reputation is well earned, and yet this outstanding reverb is by no means limited to surf expeditions, twangy splatter sounds or crazy freak endeavors. Time has proven it to sound differently beautiful and inspiring on synths, vocals, strings, and many other instruments as well… just give it a ride, the springs are calling!

The VREV-63 plugin has been created in cooperation with Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Gary Grutzek

On sale for only $29 ($59 regular) until March 9th 2024.

Looks killer, and probably sounds great as usual, but in your post it says free copy and the site $29.

Ooh nice! I just got a Surfy Bear too - which is a solid state recreation of the Fender tank. Will see how this stacks up to other plugins and hardware. I'm always looking for that perfect software spring.

looks very analog and immersive with the hardwood flooring

Is there an option to swap the hardwood with carpet? I have bunions.

Another great one Ray. Super useful tools.

Wow, great work here. I am usually not too fond of virtual spring tanks, but this one, I can switch between my real spring tank and this and love the results still. Even had several "have to check the meters to be sure which one I'm using" moments. Most definitely buying this one.

When it comes to Agreed's post, fully agreed here. I was comparing this to a Surfybear metal and the dwell was a little nicer on that tank, and the mids a little smoother, but I heard bigger differences when auditioning different Type 4 tanks in the same amp. This is startilingly good.

This reverb attracts attention, it's not subtle, seems to be an interesting option if you don't want subtle.
It's called spring and it's a reverb.
Maybe I will demo it next month in March,
it's still wintertime here.

I actually don't like the hardware but like this.

Haha, I don't know if the flooring is the best reason, but this is a great multi-tank spring emu with a lot of control over the sound under the hood, that's good enough for me to part with the fair asking price :D

This may now be my favorite spring reverb plugin.
I really like that it gives you a Type 8 tank, too.

One question: Is any convolution being used in the reverb models, or is it pure code?
