I've been looking at Translator for a while, but I have put off purchasing it in lieu of "sexier" acquisitions, such as even more samples. I'm sure a group buy would pull me in, and probably lots of other folks as well, since nearly everyone working with samples could use a program like this.

Cheez, you guys are FAST... =) Yes, the docs have been added to based on your suggestions.

The Modify screen was mainly done to deal with changes that would span over many files - it's certainly no editor.

Still, the editing capabilities are still short of where I'd like them to be. I'll be looking at this over the next couple weeks.

To Chugga Chugga:

The only "Extreme Translator" is the Translator program itself. =) I think you are referring to "Extreme Sample Converter."

Before the author changed it's name, we had to go through a fair bit of time straightening people out about the two programs. He finally changed the name, but the web site still is the same even after us repeatedly asking him to change it. I wish he'd change it.

Very true Garth. .

What about my question regarding NNXT exports and reason refills... :D  I have checked your site but couldn't spot any reference to exporting NNXT samples out of a refill.. Not that this would stop me buying your prog, it'd just answer all my sampling prayers instead of 99.9999% of them. 8)

Oh shoot - forgot to answer that question...

ReFills are an encrypted format by PHeads and only the ReFill packer can write ReFills, and only certain programs like NNXT and Recycle can read ReFills.

So there's no converting from a ReFill (.rfl) itself, no, at least not yet. PHeads has said that format will always be closed and protected.

chickeneps,

How about a Group Buy and WHEN :?: :D :?:

[edit 1] I just noticed that if I purchase Translator, I can download the program, but still have to wait for a CD which needs to be shipped. Are you using some kind of CD protection scheme :?: :?:

[edit 2] Bummer! Translator needs to check for the CD every 45 days to verify the real owner, see http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/sho ... hp?t=23634

Now I have to rethink if I want Translator, I really hate dongles and CD protection schemes.

Allows full conversions into SampleTank 1 and SampleTank 2 from all major formats, not just some
I dont think it does Korg Triton to ST2 yet... Neither does CDXTRACT... Shame- as there are lots of nice stuff out there off that monster... Is there some kind of lawsuit scare if either did this, or is that Korg wont release the info for conversion?

I use and love Translator. It gets a lot of essential things done. However, when I try to go from sf2 to ST2, al I get is a bunch of empty folders. From .akp to ST2 works sometimes, but some samples come out truncated, unlooped and or bizzarely pitchshifted. For now I just use ESC to go from sf2 to ST1. My next experiment will be to use Translator to go from ST1 to ST2 and try to use some of the very promising looking editing options.
