doing my daily surfing routine and found that Justin behind Winamp has created a virtual guitar effects system which is HIGHELY customizable (right down to re-coding the actual 'effects' themself)...

An intresting concept though the unit look's a little funky! :)

Just thought i would let the guitar player's know about this one...

Is this for real?! A wooden crucifix-shaped fx processor? Perfect for all those people who play in church bands I guess...

I don't know whether to laugh or to bookmark. ;)

The technology looks interesting, but if the sounds are coded specifically for the Jesusonic, there's always the problem that they won't be the same quality that you're accustomed to.

I had the same reaction as Lunch Money.

Will non-christians be able to use this? Perhaps we need a star of David shaped one for Jews, a crescent for Muslims and a question mark for agnostics.

I saw this a few months back..I gave it the thumbs down..

I'd say thumbs down on this one. Though it looks ... different, it's not very practical (I think). I for one wouldn't lug it around with me for playing live, which means it only has studio value.

If I want FX for studio use, there's sooooo much SW and HW available, why would this be better than anything else out there? I'd say Reaktor, combined with a midi controller can do as much as this, maybe more. It only takes time to program it.

Which brings me to my final point: A lot of guitarists don't know jack shit about technology. They crank up the gain volume on their amp to make it go louder, and then complain because the sound gets distorted. Combine this with the 'vintage' look and feel of the jesusonic software, and you're in for some troubled looks :D

Still, I appreciate the effort. As a guitarist, I'm allways looking for new ways to mangle my sounds, and this looks like it can mangle beyond any recognition.

hahaha...thats a funny casemod...but where is the corpse...

crusces, i disagree...guitarists may know shit about digital technology, but they are probably the only people left who really know what they are talking about when they speak about tubes vs. transistors etc.

Well, get me in touch with som of those. :) I'd be really happy if i'd never again had to adjust nearly all my band members' amps because they hardly can tell treble from bass...

Oy! :x

I'm a guitarist, but that didn't stop me coding working filter modules for Synthedit..

Well, I do have an all valve guitar rig 8)

Digital can f**k off when it comes to guitar tone.. :hihi:

'Guitarists'? I think you'll find that it's impossible to make a sweeping generalization like that. ;)

I'm a guitarist. I think I know something about digital. Doesn't mean that all guitarists understand what a good tone is. I agree about the adjustment of their amps (how many times have I seen a guitarist just rip out all their mids because they think that's the only way to get a metel (sic) sound?), but I don't think that's limited to guitarists. A good many keyboard players just load up a preset on their synth without understanding whether or not the patch is right for the song.

You can always tell who the guitarists are because they ignore the potential sacrilege in the thread and get straight to arguing about tone.
