Love the synth, but the classic Juno-y color scheme just kind of throws me off. I really wish this came with an alternate grey skin, something like this (quick photoshop job):

Wow that actually looks really nice, captures the AJ vibe much better IMO.

Thanks - great examples. Velo-Reso felt familiar and maybe it was p-machinery I was thinking of. But on reflection I think it was a Z3TA patch I used to use on an old track, very similar, and a great sound. Used to like that synth.

It's a great sounding synth with its own individual quirks - but I think the subtle differences are just a bit too subtle to make me pull the trigger.

Looks very good!
Send it to Patrick and suggest making it a selectable one or even the default one, replacing the OG one.
It looks a bit like a PG300, or my DT300 mk1 :)

I will support it if there is some poll for it or so.

Sure thing, glad they were helpful. As someone else said earlier in the thread (and I'm paraphrasing here) there is nothing here that many modern synths can't do. For me is just a matter of the way this particular synth does them that I just happen to connect with. In the end it's all a matter of taste.

I used to have Z3TA as well. Great synth indeed.

I like the default GUI well enough, but having the choice of a more "PG300-ey" color scheme sounds like a great idea to me too. :tu:

To my ears Ph⍺ doesnt sounds like an ⍺-Juno, it sounds better. If it sounded like the ⍺-Juno I wouldn't bother with it - I never liked the J- series synths since the day they came out. But Ph⍺ sounds really nice, smooth, with the characteristics of an ⍺-Juno that are nice but without all the mud and comprimise Roland tried to shove down our throats during the transition out of analogue topologies.

This seems stupidly simple - just one oscillator and LP only filter - but they are asking a lot of money for it. GForce's SEM is cheaper, yet likely far more capable.

Maybe Patrick still has a Nordlead synth in his possession? I think it's nice that he's dedicated to releasing retro synths and expanding them in a meaningful way. As has already been written here, it would be brilliant to have a kind of supersynth that contains all the filters and oscillators that are present in the synths developed by TAL to date. It can easily cost 150 euros.
What I miss most as a plugin is a Nord Lead. There is one, the Synth1, which is even freeware, but the user interface takes a lot of getting used to, and as far as I know there isn't a VST3 version either.

As someone wrote before, I'm not a fan of cables and plugs in a plugin either.

Given his ongoing love for Roland emulations, Patrick should talk to Martin of PG-8X infamy and see if the project could be bought / borrowed / transfered, whatever. PG-8X is dying a slow but absolute death right now. Why not hand it over to a guy who actually cares about keeping Roland emulations alive? I know, I know, it's not that easy......but a guy can dream.

Only reason I regret selling the one I had is because it had the PG-800 and at the time it was only going for like $500 for the combo hah. Same as my Juno 106. Sold both of those around 2002-2003 when they were still worth 'nothing', nowadays a Juno will run you the same I paid for a new Prophet Rev 2 or more..

Some of the basses on this thing are majorly impressive.
A well-behaved signature.
