Well, first you find your 'goat'. Of course, its not really a goat at all, that's just a convenient term. But hey, sometimes a wand and cup are a wand and cup and sometimes they're not.

You probably want to lay some sorta plastic sheeting down, cos this stuff can get messy. And really, you're best either living somewhere real remote, or playing something by vurt real loud to frighten people off..

And you really gotta make sure your blades are sharp. I mean sharp

So, start off by defining your Altar; I prefer a simple salt circle, its easiest.

Umm, what was the ritual for again?

Coffee :D

Thought, switch on the keybord and just play until something catches my imagination, hit record, play. Stop

Coffee :D

The break up the played notes into a more serious sentence, get screwy with it, at beats to taste if needed – upload to the net for persecution.

Coffee :D

Wait for feedback,

Coffee :D

Continue with the piece, build it up add instruments, clean the render master add to collection.

Coffee :D

If morning, coffee.. sit in front of keyboard, noodle.. load drum loops, noodle more. Maybe save some of the results for later.

If afternoon, tea.. maybe write some lyrics, then try to find music for them. Maybe save some of the results for later. Sometimes something from the morning turns into a full song, save it to work on later.

Sit around, listen to other peoples music. Maybe work on mixing some of my older stuff again.

If evening, beer.. sit down and try to bring together any loose bits wanting to be songs. More beer. Maybe lyrics again. Fire up the oil warmer, put in pine, cedar, sandalwood, or lotus oil. Candles set up and lit, sometimes. More beer. Maybe track in some pads, or more lyrics. More beer. Fall over, go to bed.

Repeat. :hihi:

Music making is way to sporadical to have any rituals connected to it for me. I can just get a "tic" and make music for 10 minutes, or get an idea and sit down and make a whole song, from a blank arrangement to the final mixing, in one evening. No way I can predict or decide when to make music :)

Post

First, I usually tune up (the guitars and stuff, not the synths...oh, this modrin music technology magic! :D).

Then down a can or two of Monster (hey, I like cold beverages for my caffeine... ;) ) and get to work.

I don't have any fixed rituals, but generally, my routine seems to involve knocking the guitars over therby spilling the ashtray, then swearing for 5 minutes as I curse the electric for playing up again, then realising I haven't urned the mixer on. :x

reminds me of the time when i started to really discover and explore music, which was the same time when i started smoking hash and grass. (12 years ago).

at that time i sometimes rolled some uberlarge joints, sat between the speakers and then pushed play on my stereo, to have CAN (the band) all over me ..

wow .. that was really kickasskicking ..
