Yes exactly. Sometimes you want to use it, sometimes you don't. It depends of your genre, your artistic intent, etc.Monsieur_FyP wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 5:52 pmOK, but if your definition of the best possible music is: that which lets the singer's real personality, the singer's authentic existence (with their abilities and flaws), shine through?Jac459 wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 2:15 pm "we should use all the f**king tools we have to make the best music possible and stop creating ourselves philosophical limitations"...

Yep, this is the interesting partMonsieur_FyP wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 5:52 pmOK, but if your definition of the best possible music is: that which lets the singer's real personality, the singer's authentic existence (with their abilities and flaws), shine through?Jac459 wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 2:15 pm "we should use all the f**king tools we have to make the best music possible and stop creating ourselves philosophical limitations"...
The question I have is why does the music have to be perfected with pitch correction? Who made that decision? The vast majority of people can't hear the difference anyway, so why do the major releases all have pitch correction when most people can't hear the difference? Just seems counter intuitive when these major labels are putting an extra process into something when they want to hurry up and get out the door
BTW, yes I use pitch correction in my projects, but not on every note. Just the notes that are noticeably out of tune and don't fit the context of the piece.
I have a really fast computer, some good mics, vintage musical instruments, and lots of fancy software. Just need some talent

Some people say alcohol is a drink. Strictly speaking, though, its a category of organic chemical compounds, not all of which are safe to drink.revvy wrote: Tue Feb 20, 2024 9:37 am Some people say alcohol is a drug. It’s not a drug, it’s a drink.
Which is of course the point.

'transform' and 'effect' are synonyms. Check a thesaurus, under 'change'

It's not a universal definition, though.

Who said it was universal? In any case, this definition is certainly not ridiculous, and is probably shared by a number of people... (Doesn't mean it's my personal opinion, btwwhyterabbyt wrote: Tue Feb 20, 2024 1:14 pm'If.'Monsieur_FyP wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 5:52 pmOK, but if your definition of the best possible music is: that which lets the singer's real personality, the singer's authentic existence (with their abilities and flaws), shine through?Jac459 wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 2:15 pm "we should use all the f**king tools we have to make the best music possible and stop creating ourselves philosophical limitations"...
It's not a universal definition, though.
My point was precisely to put into perspective the overly clear-cut opinion of Jac459.

I bought the worst thesaurus the other day. Not only is it terrible, it's terrible.
