But tal pha came out just a few days ago. Why not have unlimited envelopes. What would that hurt, sound wise. They made other upgrades and changes that the original didn't have.
1 single envelope is just dumb.

It's not dumb. It's a very important limitation which contributed to the characteristics of the original synth this plugin supposed to emulate. With 1 env you're are forced to create sounds in a particular way and the result of this is often desired.Yoloswagger9 wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 11:01 pm But tal pha came out just a few days ago. To be fair, it sounds like this is not the synth and feature set you are looking for and that's fine. You presumably need something that has more modulation options rather than focused on the sound. But make no mistake, this little synth can go a long way, you would be surprised.

Even the ancient minimoog had 2 envelopes... Tons of synths have 1 amp and 1 filter envaudiouser720 wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 11:20 pmIt's not dumb. It's just stupid to not have that on this one
Extending its capabilites tenfold. Without really changing or altering anything. Just making the sound more tweakable.
Why would you NOT want an alpha with (at least) 2 envelopes?? I just don't understand that logic.

Because technical limitations define the sonic fingerprint of a certain synth too.

While you're at it, why not load wavetables and samples too? And FM synthesis. Perhaps some physical modeling. And then change the name to something not so limited to the Alpha Juno.

Having more envs wouldn't necessarily change that though. Also we live in 2024 and it's software, there's no need for such limitations

Yeah, that whole "lets model an Alpha Juno" idea was pretty dumb.

Stupid question , but where do you paste the code ?Niowiad wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 12:52 pmThe entire block can be copy-pasted and saved as text, and I have mine on a .txt file.Teksonik wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 12:47 pm I also don't see a way to save the color settings. We'll have to take a screenshot of the settings:

Sure, being able to save the theme would be more practical, but at least for me it's a one and done thing so I'm fine with the current barebone option.
As an example, this was the block for my previous screenshot.

By the way, if Patrick adds new voices in the future (e.g. text color), any of these blocks shared in here will probably stop working unless updated with the lines for the new entries.

I just think Patrick could add a number of things, as he's done, and as long as the default approach to the synth and the sound are true to the OG then it's all good. What you don't want is some new feature that obscures that intent or is imbalanced with respect to it. So, like, 4 envs would be dumb because it's a bare bones synth conceptually.
So yeah, throw in some detune, throw in another envelope. Just don't get carried away. And I'm sure that's how it'll go.

Someone said almost exactly that a few pages ago. Noone is asking that. Wavtetables and Fm on an alpha? Please. All I'm asking is for another envelope. Jesus christ. Talk about making a hen of a feather just for argumentation sakes. If you really are desperate for fighting go elsewhere because noone has asked for wavetables or a name change.jamcat wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 11:40 pm While you're at it, why not load wavetables and samples too? But that's fine. But me asking for another envelope? That's somehow summoning Satan.
This forum is so damn hypocritical it's insane

But what is the line?
You may want another envelope, someone may want all the Roland filters, someone may want a second and third oscillator, someone already asked for an mseg.
Where is the line drawn?
For me, Patrick draws that line.
It's his vision/product.
