Well it's a plugin version of the System 8 hardware. If you like that then it's worth having.
If not, move on.

Ah yes I knew that already :)
My question was pretty clear though. Thanks anyway.
Why are you telling me to move on? I thought we were discussing. Kind of rude to tell me to move on by having questions

hi guys, i just updated my old Roland Cloud manager and it totally looks different, in the past i saw which vst is a lifetime key and which not, now i dont see it and the filter doesnt seem to work right.

the old manager didnt show the sound canvas somehow, the new one does, but what do these icons mean? and how do i know if this is a lifetime license or not?

I think the only way to see Lifetime keys is logging into your account on their site.

Those icons are to show if it is installed and for uninstalling.

And XV 5080 with all the SRX included in one plugin like Korg does it instead of milking us with 1 piece at a time.
Same goes for the x-amount of drum machines instead of giving us the TR-8 Experience instead.

They way things are done and the lack of support and new products makes them getting further and further behind the competition and the Cloud app you need to run everything makes it a horrible experience.

Hey everyone! Sorry for the late reply to some of these. Somehow when I would refresh KVR it wasn't showing any new pages and then all the sudden it did lol.

Man, it was sounding so cool almost ready to send to the bass player.
Then, I did the unthinkable. I duplicated a Zenology track to add some percussion and BLAM BOOM BYE BYE! CRASH
That was it, reverted to saved, lost the rhodes, reverted to autosaved, lost other parts.
Vibe blown. JFC Roland...i was only running 1 instance of Zen and no other Roland stuff.
I am pissed. Inspiration gone. bbl....

I just kill the process everytime I start Windows but that's getting annoying. Removing it from auto-startup doesn't work, because everytime I use one the Roland plugins it reinserts itself like some piece of malware.

I tried just deleting Roland Cloud Manager.exe, and that worked for a while, but after a couple of weeks the plugins need to reauthorize and then it needs RCM again.
Hey N 4 Life and Sheaf. Sorry to hear you had this experience! Have you reported this issue to our support team? The causes of this kind of thing can vary and it's very helpful to collect data when it happens to make sure it's not some major flaw in our software. I know I say this a lot, but make sure you are up to date with the most recent version of your DAW, OS, Roland Cloud Manager and the instrument. Because sometimes the solution to these problems are in newer updates. Let me know if you need any more assistance.
SLiC wrote: Sat Feb 24, 2024 2:11 pm Thew original Legendary series are now looking very outdated and have been surpassed by many non-Roland versions. I simply don't use them now (despite owning lifetime keys), I occasionally still use the D50 and System 8 but Roland have never really updated anything substantially and have gone a year without adding anything new...I can't think why anyone would subscribe.
Hey SLiC! We've made major updates to five of our instruments so far; the JX-3p, JUNO-106, JUNO-60JUPITER-8 and JUPITER-4 and compatibility updates to all of our instruments. We plan to make similar improvements to our other instruments as featured on our v2 synths. I'm not sure how these products seem outdated to you, but I'd love to hear some feedback on what kind of features would make them more your vibe.
Caine123 wrote: Sat Feb 24, 2024 3:51 pm first thanks a lot i will read all through thoroughly later today.
i just got a reply from roland and i dont understand if they just wanna piss me off. they told me you get 2 lifetime keys for PLAY 4 LIFE promo where the next one is in july. i pay once a year for ultimate sub. so if i got the ultimate sub, how much is PLAY 4 LIFE? what advantage has an ultimate sub at all then if getting PLAY 4 LIFE gets you a better bonus?

hey Jon at roland, please answer this, i feel just pissed off and roland does give a crap about ultimate subscribers it seems. your price model is a spit in the customers face it seems.
Play 4 Life is a promotion we run twice a year that allows you to pay the price of an annual membership and get either two instruments for life with an Ultimate Membership, or one instrument with a Pro Membership. It's a great opportunity for people to pay in advance for the year and be able to walk away with some synths for life. Or if you are someone who would like to buy a lifetime key or two and want to try a membership, then there is no better oppurtunity.

Our memberships include new sounds, presets & patches and other features, plus endless access to all of our instruments and new ones when they come out. And now with an Ultimate membership you get access to GALAXIAS. Non members do not have access to these features unless they purchase them outright. If this is your vibe then it's great way to use Roland Cloud instruments and I recommend re-applying for Play 4 Life this Summer if you'd like to leave with some.

I try to be very communicative about the benefits of Play 4 Life and consistently advertise it when it's running. Let me know if you have any more questions!
D-Fusion wrote: Sat Feb 24, 2024 8:33 pm I believe 1 round is 10 and if you stop and resubscribe on the next play4life promo you can get 10 more.

It does show up as 2 different reward systems when i log into my roland cloud account.
Hey D Fusion. Great observation. With Play 4 Life you can subscribe up to 5 times total. This gives you 10 instruments with an Ultimate Membership (2 per cycle) and 5 instruments with Pro. Once you reach 5 renewals you can no longer reapply. We used to run our Loyalty Program which preceded Play 4 Life and gave similar deals. People who participated in this could also get the standard amount of Play 4 Life rewards.

in Windows, turn off RCMServiceStart in Settings>Apps>Startup.

You're correct about the icons. However, there are ways to tell if you own a lifetime key inside Roland Cloud manager. Firstly, if you lack a lifetime key, or the appropriate subscription level, it will not show you the icon allowing you to download.

Secondly, there is an Owned/Free filter tab in the Cloud Manager. Unfortunately this tab doesn't seem to be able to distinguish between subscription and ownership either. So, if you're subscribed, those products you're subscribed to will show up in the "owned" tab, meaning you have no proper way to tell what you "actually" own, VS what you're subscribed to (unless you don't have any subscription.. )

As previously mentioned - their website also fails to show ownership of certain lifetime key types (Zenology etc). So you might want to hang on to any proof of purchase emails :)

Before I move to another computer, do I need to somehow unregister my lifetime licenses from my old computer first?

What is the process for moving to a new computer?

In Roland Cloud Manager, under Settings / Preferences select “Manage My Devices” and click on the “minus” sign icon for the computer you want to remove authorisation from. Note that you cannot remove authorisation from the computer Roland Cloud is currently running on. So you’ll have to remove the old computer when using the new one.

so, in other words, there is no way to tell in the RCM which Lifetime keys you own if you are currently subscribed.

edit: btw, i asked product support about this and the response was predictable - they said they would add it to the list of suggestions. which is frustrating, since older versions of RCM provided an explicit indication of "actual" Lifetime keys, not just which ones you have access to due to a subscription.
