Lots of awesome news in that thread, thanks for sharing. If not already present, would love to see an envelope follower (per band?) and M/S mode in the big brother plugin Warmth.DaveGamble wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:16 pm If it please you, I have posted an entire rampage of commentary towards the end here: https://gearspace.com/board/product-ale ... -a-37.html

I am imagining Serum but with a DMGAudio GUI.

FIFY "Is TrackComp 2 by DMG Audio one of the best compressors?"
Hell to the YES... but it depends what you already have. There are compressors that have comparable sound, but do they have this many wrapped up in a tidy box?
Only drawback for me is that all the compressor models look the same visually. I sometimes think of other plugins first because they are more visually distinctive.

I'd rather have TrackSAT. Hopefully he has that cooking.

Me too - dont need more compressors at all. Maybe Distressor in TC2 and thats it, but TrackSaturator is something I believe Dave can do pretty well.Kappa_Beta_Hi-Phi wrote: Sun Feb 25, 2024 6:18 pmI'd rather have TrackSAT. Hopefully he has that cooking.

I am too, i want the saturator more than TC2 update but from what i read from GS, pretty sure they will be both released at the same time. There are still some big hitters missing in TC2 (LA3A, Fairchild, 33609...)

I also don't understand why LA3A always isn't included in such a pluginjtsterays wrote: Mon Feb 26, 2024 1:29 am I am too, i want the saturator more than TC2 update but from what i read from GS, pretty sure they will be both released at the same time. I would like to see saturation better integrated into TC2. As much as I like the other features, I find it hard to use for saturation. Sometimes you need to push makeup, sometimes makeup does nothing. For some things saturation is modelled, for other not. The manual does say something about saturation modeling, but it's still feels a bit unfinished and inconsistent.
I would prefer either behavior like the original or a good and clear way to control it.

From what I understand, all the models except for the DMG mode have saturation built-in. Just a few of them have it on the input, like their hardware counterparts. So for example, the 2k5 has very little saturation on the Makeup Gain fader but adding some gain via the Input fader will add the dirt. Same deal with the SSL E-Channel; the saturation is really on the input side and the makeup gain is clean. I think Dave was just staying true to the originals. It's part of the reason why TrackComp is so great on the one hand, but at the same time, why it can be so tedious to use on the other hand.

I don't think people realize how much time Dave spent on the models that are included already. As far as I know, he literally built hardware clones of the devices he modeled, then measuring every single component and created his own mathematical models of each. Very similar workflow to what Andrew of Cytomic does (though I suspect Andrew is a bit more OCD about it all.. if that's even possible).jtsterays wrote: Mon Feb 26, 2024 1:29 am I am too, i want the saturator more than TC2 update but from what i read from GS, pretty sure they will be both released at the same time. So getting a DMG Audio model of a Fairchild means Dave first needs to build one. I know he was contemplating it at one point but the cost is really high even just for the components of a modernized version and if it needs to be anywhere near "authentic" in terms of vintage sound output, then the costs skyrocket due to the shortage of those old tubes and the transformers.
The LA3A and 33609 should be much more feasible and hopefully we'll get those at some point. I'm also eagerly still awaiting the PYE compressor he was teasing many years ago.
