Never cared about PModular’s snake oil. Those fortunate enough to afford it, may proceed to spend on it

I don't get how this dude can be considered an "artist" when he went on public record saying he wants create the most expensive plugins available. What a f**king douche.

Sure - the question is though: is it more useful / nicer sounding than dozens of ther compressors than can be had for little bucks from a developer doesn't suffer from a Jesus-complex?bmanic wrote: Wed Feb 28, 2024 9:46 pm To my ears at least this compressor is super useful and really nice sounding and the distortion isn't bad either.
Let's say Klanghelm: Tony really knows his stuff and he tweaks it until the cows come home before he releases his stuff for peanuts and yet he is one of the modest people imagineable. So is it vastly superior to both DC8C and MJUC?
Or, if you root for the more expensive stuff: what about DMG Trackcomp, which is about a dozen well-crafted (using state-of-the-art emulation technologies) analog emulations in one plugin - is it superior to this one? I never read Dave Gamble talking about himself or his products like he/they were the second coming.
As I said, I think it's super funny some of you guys even consider using this stuff. Personally I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. It could be ten times as brilliant as it could ever be within the realms of reality and the whole appearance of this "company" (actually not serious in my book to be really called that ) would still be completely over the top.
After all, it's all just some toys, and there's literally hundreds of these out, with most of them being made by people one can actually like.
So pull away the greasy, cum-stained veil of cult and what you end up with isn't really worth writing your momma a letter about.

With 6 types of analog comp emulations and one digital comp DMG TC2 ain’t expensive IMO.

Did you listen to bmanics two sound examples?
Did you watch Marc Daniel Nelson's YT video, and listen to the sound examples there?

You may have missed it but I have apologise for my behaviour toward the company and their community. I would like to know how many high comment count, influential posters on gearslutz have received the product for free for their beta testing work or for other reasons and or how many of the gearslutz community have collaborated or done paid work for this company though. Perhaps this would explain the unusual enthusiasm for the success of these products in the face of it's middling reviews from sources such as the snakeoil youtuber and virtually no coverage in the mainstream press.
It's puzzling.
Until I know more I won't be trialing their products. I'm sure they sound great though.

I'm not impressed by the demos personally, but I would have to trial it myself before deciding, you can't judge anything from demos provided by others IMO.Barbarossa wrote: Thu Feb 29, 2024 1:07 pm Do I understand this correctly? You claim you are able to judge sound, and now you claim you listened to them, so you must be able to describe what you are hearing in these examples.Kappa_Beta_Hi-Phi wrote: Thu Feb 29, 2024 1:15 pmI'm not impressed by the demos personally, but I would have to trial it myself before deciding, you can't judge anything from demos provided by others IMO.Barbarossa wrote: Thu Feb 29, 2024 1:07 pm Do I understand this correctly? Regarding your claim: you do not need the plugin to hear and judge these examples. The examples speak for themselfes. You would need the plugin to check, if the given examples were faked or if the plugin really does, what these examples are showing.
But you have said it already: you listened to them and you do not hear the serious stuff that is going on.
I mean the bmanic example is even better than the MDN YT examples.
If you do not hear that, then you should check your monitoring setups. Really.
I do not even needed to switch on the KH 120II: the iLoud Micro are enough to hear the significant improvement in smoothed transient response, increased depth & stereo imaging.

It's puzzling for your brain perhaps. By your logic, no one influential has a right to say that they like something even if they are (or not) related to a specific product. Bizarre.Kappa_Beta_Hi-Phi wrote: Thu Feb 29, 2024 12:22 pm

So I already see you will say "I didn't say that" . And then you will tell me that there's a line somewhere, defined by your somethingsomething right?
What's most shocking is that you can not imagine say 8 internet nobody people being amazed and love the product on release and then post about it - in a forum which is visited around 10 000 times per day. You see conspiracy instantly.
Have you ever seen Gearspace Acustica's new product thread alerts? Usually, you have 35-55 people (like just ordinary people) raving about the product. But they must be on some sort of payroll from Acustica?
Just look at KVR Triaz thread. People are amazed.
Good lord what a bunch of crazy insinuations.
Just download for free and test by yourself and all is clear.

I think you're asking totally legit questions, and I acknowledge the apology (indicative of being more open to new ideas). Indeed, asking the questions was never the issue. I think if we're going to have an honest conversation and solve whether Pulsar Modular is a worthy investment (based around those questions), we're going to have to lay things out logically and be less emotional. At least for me, I'm hardly convinced by emotional arguments when it comes to how sound works and how it can be shaped differently with different tools... but I get that there are other variables with different importance for different people... It just seems that a lot of the time I have to dig for "the science" in these forums (both gearspace and kvr) when most of the comments seem to be about something else. Granted, maybe those comments about something else are legitimate. Perhaps Ziad from Pulsar Modular is a bad actor and we should be reacting emotionally. Anyways,Kappa_Beta_Hi-Phi wrote: Thu Feb 29, 2024 12:22 pmYou may have missed it but I have apologise for my behaviour toward the company and their community. Ziad @ Pulsar Modular is from Turkey. Relations with the West and countries like Russia and China have obviously soured. Other countires relations have soured too though, albeit not to the degree of the previously stated countries. One of these countries is Turkey (https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/do ... 36_EN.html). I've noticed with my work internationally, that these types of relations deeply matter and are not just on paper. For example, my company was working with a bank in Russia before the Crimea sanctions happened. That bank no longer exists... I think that it's possible that Pulsar Modular may not be directing most of its marketing energy towards Western markets because it could be too expensive to sell there, but also that the avenues for 'digital frontage' are much greater at non western avenues for people like Ziad who live in Turkey. I remember I read a post from him where he proudly stated that a lot of sales at the time were being made through China. So I think it's possible. I could be wrong though.

Not at all. People simply need to declare their involvement with a company. You may have noticed this is standard practice on social media, for good reason.kmonkey wrote: Thu Feb 29, 2024 1:37 pm It's puzzling for your brain perhaps. I didn't insinuate anything. I am curious and until my curiosity is satisfied I am not interested in proceeding with a trial.
Thanks for your interest kmonkey.
