I'd never coded before, had never written a script.
I've been learning and fudging code for a few months now and just made this.
Sure, it's no masterpiece, but I find it pretty handy.
To be fair, it's more about the learning experience.
Nice video.
Did you write the Generate Rift script?

Currently a Studio One user but looking to possibly switch to Reaper as my main DAW.

BTW re: Mulab - Reaper
Are you using Mulab as a plugin in Reaper?
@redmaggott wrote that script.

I use MuLab in Reaper with no problems as a Plugin. I need to figure how to sync the MuLab Matrix to start rather than the Timeline.
I could do it with a Note assigned to the Matrix but I have some issues with that method.

I can have MuLab App just print MIDI in any tracks in Reaper if needed.
I'm just beginning to explore the Reper-MuLab possibilities, and it can be a powerful combo.
Reaper does not have a modular environment such as FL Studio with Patcher and Mulab with Mux.

I love all modular environments whether a DAW, instrument or fx. I love the flexibility for routing and to be able to see it. But most of all I love it when the modular plugin can host other plugins. Yes I admit it, I’m in love with modular!!!

I am looking to add a modular environment to Reaper. I am now looking in the current order of preference at:

1. Bidule https://web.archive.org/web/20170926075 ... ts/bidule/
2. Unify also has a modular environment called ComboBox which allows one to route audio and midi as desired. https://www.kvraudio.com/news/plugingur ... fect-50140
3. Mulab plugin with Mux. Also considering Mulab App (over reaper) with Mulab Plugin.
4. Loomer Architect https://www.loomer.co.uk/architect.htm
5. FL Studio as a plugin with Patcher. Also considering FLS Studio (over Reaper) with Patcher.
6. Freestyle https://www.newsonicarts.com/html/freestyle.php
7. Metaplugin https://ddmf.eu/metaplugin-chainer-vst- ... x-wrapper/
8. Element - https://kushview.net/, (Name a fair price)
MuLab is extremely modular and works flawlessly as an App inside a DAW.

It can run several Composer in the Modular area and the Matrix (Sessions) is the only one, that I'm aware of, that's independent from the Timeline. Check out few "recent" YouTube videos and try the free demo.

You can actually create your own Instruments and Effects and Tools AND make a dedicated UI for them.

I was using it inside Reason as well for MIDI plugins since Reason is incapable of doing so.

What makes MuLab really special is the developer, Jo.

Good luck with your search.

BTW: To clarify:
The RIFT script was made by the guy who created the Reapertips Theme (the guy in that video).

@redmaggott wrote the other one above that post of mine.

Got some new themes Peace and Reapertips which is fantastic.

Already making more music than ever.

Little here and there you can customize it to your liking. No need to kill yourself all at once.

Freaking powerful DAW.
This comment made me install Reaper now. Like you I tried it in the past and wasn't taken with it.. but following Ableton 12 beta testing, I just explored Bitwig.. Loved its strengths, missed a few things from Ableton, and am ready to give Reaper a spin again! Thanks (I think! Should probably be finishing songs...)

Enjoy the exploration! :tu:
To me it feels like a distant memory and a long tunnel.
I can't never go back to AL or BW.

Is reaper the best long term daw?
Is Python the best long term programming language?
Is Linux the best long term os?
Is software developer the best long term career?

These questions have the same vibes, but mostly missed the most important factors:

Do you like it after trying and does it fit your goals?

If you don’t like the daw you tried, or if the daw couldn’t fulfil your requirements, it means nothing, no matter how others persuade you. Just like someone insisted to be a software developer just because of the potential and income, while they hate it; they will eventually give up and change careers despite the good things others told.

This is a question we actually can’t answer, as opinions are subjective unless op have tried the daw and make a conclusion themselves since… my long term daw is an free obscure music tracker, and I found that I can make better music on it rather than some other fancy daws with plug-ins…

How long is "long term"?
For me is as long as it is. It's not that complicated...

The long term part is definitely easy, but the main problem is that even if we think something is good, it doesn’t mean all the good things applies to op. If he ended up hating on using reaper, he wouldn’t think that is a long term choice for him although some find it good.

At the end, this is a question only op can answers by testing and comparing the software themselves.

Unfortunately it takes time to find out a long term DAW.
Asking in advance may uncover issues that may not be encountered with a new tool a the beginning stages.

These kind of threads are actually quite useful by having other users exposing the good and the bad (at the individual level of course) and offering solutions or alternatives.

I usually read them and, if I can “contribute” to the discussion, I do, otherwise I stay quietly out.

I think you need to make a spreadsheet list of "must haves", followed by "would be nice to haves" and then mark them off for each DAW. As for long-term, anything can be long-term if you stop updating the OS and software and take it off the Internet. Once you have it running "just right", of course. :D
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Which Long Term spreadsheet do you recommend? :hihi:

Been using Reaper as my main DAW since version 3.0 (already bought a license at 2.0). Is that long term?

Back then I ditched Pro Tools for Reaper in the studio and at home I've slowly but surely migrated from both FL Studio and Ableton Live (and to an extent Logic) to Reaper as my do-it-all DAW. I still curse at the damn unintuitive piano roll and in general how Reaper treats mouse active areas.. that's one part where FL Studio does it much better. But other than those small niggles, Reaper really is the do-it-all king of the block. I've also used Reaper in several live venues as my virtual mixing desk and it works exceptionally well!

Interesting! This is totally new to me.
Is Paranormal FX Router a VST?
It seems to me that Paranormal FX Router has an audio in and an audio out.
The modules are audio FX.
What I really need a Paranormal Instrument and FX Router similar to Bidule.
But I have Bidule so it will have to be better than Bidule or Unify or Mulab ...

Mulab can run the Matrix (sessions)
Inside Reaper as a VST.
No other vst can do that. Is like having Ableton running on a track.

It's not a VST, it's a script. What it does is provide a routing window with boxes and cables for instruments and FX.

It's basically a graphic interface for the routing that's already possible in REAPER (since version 7 there's an 'FX Container' feature and a parallel FX feature). You can also split a signal in separate frequency bands to create monster multiband FX! It also has utilities to separate the mono and stereo channels, and even the transient and sustain of a sound to process them separately.

And if all of that is not enough, you can apply LFO's to FX parameters!

And yes, you can use it for FX and instruments, with parallel processing, or whatever you want.

If too many commands in Reaper might confuse and feel complicated, have a look at this video.
Have not seen with any other DAW.
