Yeah, that last 2% we are always chasing...that's for us. Not the audience. If it brings you joy, go for it. But I'm trying to remind myself how little it matters and how little time I actually have to play with all these toys these days.

It's really true. Plugins sound so good now that there's much less to fix, and Ozone can bridge the gaps.

I was going to post some more audio demos but I got distracted and ended up making a short little jam instead. P455 all over the place here.. maybe you can hear the creamy smooth goodness of this <insert hyperbolic description here> plugin.
Thursday night jam (Google Drive link, mp3 3.8mb)
The jam ends abruptly.. basically just a thing you can loop over and over. Nothing fancy.
Featured plugins:
Triaz for most of the beats
Diva (synths and flute at the end)
Omnisphere (felt piano, the guitars and distant piano at the end)
GForce Axxess (the rumbly stereo bass)
Tons and tons of Kirchoff EQ all over the place. Cenozoix and P455 for compression. Demo version of Acustica Audio Lace for various limiting tasks. P455 for mojo on most channels. Thimeo stereotool, Silver Bullet and weiss compression for mastering.

Oh, this is good actually. PD can be very wrong tool in hands of the folks who don't know what they are doing (at least 95% of GS/KVR members). I remember at least 2 occasions where folks got wildly wrong impression from looking at PD, GS new product threads on Klanghabitat Cassiopeia and Baby Audio Taip (I remember because I was involved in discussion, not to much effect because people blindly (mis)interpret what they see in PD as absolute truth; I've seen bunch of other misinterpretations of PD analysis).Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2024 12:43 am Oh, it's true! How are you liking Cenozoix? I have it but I'm noticing that I'm reaching for MDWDRC2 more often.
Silve Bullet hardware? software?
Thanks for sharing.

Plugindoctorw is nice diagnostics tool. It’s useful in many situations. I’ve no horse in the plugin development race, so I have nothing against Plugindoctor being used to analyze bad plugin behavior.urosh wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2024 9:41 am Oh, this is good actually. Can't admit it, eh?bmanic wrote: Thu Feb 29, 2024 11:29 pm But what I did read was quite obviously a guy trying to defend his position on the pricing and that included his belief that he is extremely skilled in what he is doing and obviously very passionate about it all. I have no idea if that's true or not
However be as it may, the bottom line is still the audio output of the plugin in question and in my opinion, to my ears, it is very good and more importantly, unique in it's sonic fingerprint.
There is a comment over at GS, where one claims, that this plugin replaced three finely tuned plugins with ease, but it wasn't doing something special...
Or one obviously very good producer with great wall of sound guitars, posted an example of a mix using several finely tuned UAD plugins and replaced them all with this one and only minimal tweaking and the result is better. Not much better, but "analog hw" better. Which is huge.
I think it's funny: because of the never fullfilled promises, people have become so sceptic, that when they are finally given a plugin that delivers what IMO no other plugin I know has ever achieved before, they can't believe it and dismiss it, according to the saying "once a liar, always a liar".

1st second: instant feeling sounds like a record goodness --> good hwbmanic wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2024 7:29 am I was going to post some more audio demos but I got distracted and ended up making a short little jam instead. Thursday night jam (Google Drive link, mp3 3.8mb)
3 seconds: the width! It lives! --> good hw
20 seconds: ah, cymbals creamy but hit of the snare not annoying --> good hw
Remove the P455 and I would not be surprised, if the extreme analog hw like sound, these positive attributes, will become reduced significantly, maybe even vanish.

This is what people mean by "cult". They want you to take their personality test and drink their Kool-aid.
The man said it was a unique and worthwhile plugin but no - people need to delete all their other plugins a set their hardware on fire.
Jeez Louise.

As I said, on GS two plugins were declared broken on their release because of misuse of PD, one of them being most used saturator in my toolbox, so I must be deaf or something because PD is objective truth, innit? More recently Softube clipper was declared broken as well thanks to misinterpretation of PD analysis (thankfully, nobody pulled out PD on Model N because it would look even more broken in same vein), and one person here on DSP forum was puzzled why do they hear audible difference when in PD looks like plugin is doing almost nothing.equisonus wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2024 10:19 am Plugindoctorw is nice diagnostics tool. I find PD use (somewhat frequent on GS) more objectionable then fanclub salivations over new release, although none really affects me personally, I tend to very thoroughly test and stress tools I'm interested with.
BTW, I sometimes use PD myself (after assessing with my own ears), but I'm very very very very careful about interpretation of results for anything other than very linear EQ/filters. Not because PD is broken, it is mostly fine, but because no analytic tool will provide insights simple to interpret as long as any kind of significant nonlinear behavior is involved, and lot of people are confused by stuff they see for linear effects.

Again, your comment indicates that you do not hear the difference between pure cultist names, like AA and what this plugin is doing, therefore you are dismissing the description as "cult".Kappa_Beta_Hi-Phi wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2024 11:00 am This is what people mean by "cult". I have the suspicion, you do not even hear what good analog hw is doing.
Thinking more about it, you probably do not know, that certain aspects of sound, can be judged by the very second: a lot is in the sound of the transients.
You proobably believe, that my post was about expressing how good this plugin sounds - because you do not understand what I described, was my listening process, how this mix easily shows important attributes of good analog hw.
Why do I even have to explain how listening works and how quickly things can be judged?
