PC demo is still v2.5?

Post

The demo of Icarus2 on Mac was broken. That's why the beta of icarus3 was uploaded as a replacement.
Icarus 3 is still not released. It will be availabe in early April. With the official release there will be also a new demo for PC and Mac.

But to be clear.. if I buy it now and you pm me the links, the current link is for mac only correct? (you say the demo is only for mac currently, wasn't sure if you also meant the beta is for mac only too at this point).

Lucky mac users!

Can you break the PC demo of Icarus 2 as well so us Windoze users can try the beta? ;)

What an absolute beast this thing has become. Incredible work.

I wish I had gotten the upgrade initially before the price increase. But there is a ton in this upgrade - I’ll wait for the release but it definitely seems worth it.

it's pretty great so far (and i've barely scratched the surface). excited to dive in deeper (and get to the official release)...

The demo beta overwrites Icarus 2.5 full version ? I only had a quick play last night as it was late but I wanted to compare a few things and 2.5 seems to have gone.. I could be wrong! looking forward to playing with it again tonight.

Yes it does overwrite it. I have just been reading through the change log that’s was posted earlier in this thread and checking that stuff out in the new version to compare

We do not recommend to have several versions of the a plugin (or any software in general) installed at the same time.
Many DAWs can not handle this properly.
We also do not recommend to rename, delete or move files that are part of an installation. Missing files can cause crashes and inpredicable problems.

Duplicate installations are not necessary as we always do a lot of effort to keep our plugins downward compatible.

You can find a very detailed list of changes on the first page of this thread.

In the beta, reducing the plugin size causes a lot of graphical aliasing around the knobs and splines. The attachments are to 66% size.

PS, I love the 'elegant' skin and everything is running great so far. Bravo!

I investigated this and I can only get this look on my very old Mac mini with MacOS 10.12 when you use a scaling smaller than 100%. It doesn't look like this on BigSur or 10.14. On MacOS 10.12 Apple still used nearest neighbour resampling instead of linear interpolation for scaling images. This results in aliasing.
If you are still on such an old MacOS version I recommend to upgrade it. Especially since it didn't get security upgrades since years.

Further notes: The Elegant skin doesn't work well for GUI sizes other than 100% as the text labels are pre-rendered to the background of the skin. I recommend using a different skin for the other sizes. 'Dark Aqua' has a similar look and here the labels are realtime-drawn and crisp.

Furthermore you can enhance the visual quality and performance by changing your display scaling to exactly 100% or 200% in the system preferences of your Mac.

Yes you have a business to run. But surely it's better to get your pricing in a place where the majority are encouraged to upgrade. Something like $59 from V2 would make much more a no-brainer decision. Upgrading from V1 could then be more like $89.
There are always a few posters who try to claim that it is somehow in the developers interest for those users to pay less money...
