Hi, I have a maybe crazy question, can the fx file from a daw be transformed into a dll file? I like the reverb from mixcraft 10 but it doesn't have dll files, they are fx files and I can't load them into cubase.

In a word, no.
Unless the DAW maker has released the internal plugins as externally available files, they will forever remain 'inside your DAW'.
If you want to go super-advanced, you could capture the reverb using impulse response techniques, and import it into your favourite IR reverb, but if the reverb has modulation/movement, you'll lose that feature of the sound.

Even if the plugin were implemented as a DLL, it wouldn't help you in the slightest. The native plugin ABI for any given DAW (Steinberg aside) is completely custom to the DAW itself. They are not VSTs.

Nope. There's an entirely separate bundle of VST version of some of reaper's internal plugins, including ReaJS, but it hasnt been updated since 2016.MJACau wrote: Sun Mar 10, 2024 8:15 am I think mostly Reaper only has that function with ReaJS via a VST bridge plugin.

I asked a dev about this beforeteilo wrote: Sat Mar 09, 2024 4:29 pm Even if the plugin were implemented as a DLL, it wouldn't help you in the slightest. The native plugin ABI for any given DAW (Steinberg aside) is completely custom to the DAW itself. They are not VSTs.
They are vst, but in a wrapper for that specific host

That doesnt quite make sense, no 'wrapper' is needed, as a VST plugin can already check what host its running in, so only run on specific hosts. Cakewalk used to do that.seafire wrote: Sun Mar 10, 2024 12:39 pmI asked a dev about this beforeteilo wrote: Sat Mar 09, 2024 4:29 pm Even if the plugin were implemented as a DLL, it wouldn't help you in the slightest. In fact, if a developer is making any cross-platform plugin, its likely to be that the actual core code of the plugin is in 'wrapper' to package it as a VST2, VST3, AAX, AU etc.

I think I remember trying this before and it didn't work. It was some other DAW specific FX and I wanted it to work in FL. Sometimes I've had luck changing the extension, but never for software. You'll get a bunch of warnings, but it won't transfer the effect to another DAW. We need a new DAW for that. We'll call it ModulDAW.

It's what I was told. If was a long time ago, and wasn't cross platform. I'm not a dev/coder.whyterabbyt wrote: Sun Mar 10, 2024 12:50 pmThat doesnt quite make sense, no 'wrapper' is needed, as a VST plugin can already check what host its running in, so only run on specific hosts. ReaJS is just the loader, it can load up ReaPack repositories that are always getting updated with effects.Nope. There's an entirely separate bundle of VST version of some of reaper's internal plugins, including ReaJS, but it hasnt been updated since 2016.
This is aimed at the OP, nor is the information aimed at you.

Irrelevant to what I said. The plugin version of ReaJS is entirely separate from the internal version, and has not been updated since 2016.MJACau wrote: Mon Mar 11, 2024 6:34 amReaJS is just the loader, it can load up ReaPack repositories that are always getting updated with effects.Nope.
