I wouldn't think of the granular like granular osc's in a synth like Pigments. It's more of an Osc effect that can make some cool results but is fairly limited. Thought of that way, it's a useful option.simmo75 wrote: Tue Mar 12, 2024 1:43 pm Absolutely amazing plugin Tone2, congratulations!
The only thing I’m a little disappointed with is the granular implementation, but that could be user error, as I’m struggling to work out the functionality.
Everything else is spot on!

So I bought the upgrade for Icarus 3 (from 2.5) and it sounds and looks fantastic.
Markus, you keep mentioning this is a Beta and the synth is not officially released yet. Although my experience is that your beta releases are usually very stable I''d like to know what to expect in the final release in April ?
What is to be added/refined in the next few weeks ? Is it the sound palette ?
I'm guessing the feature set is pretty much done in the Beta.
Thanks. Great work.

I can confirm that the beta is stable. We're on track with the release in early April.
So far this will still change:
- Fixed some smaller bugs
- Fixed some graphic glitches
- Small layout fixes
- Arpeggiator did look ugly in smaller scales on Mac
- Changed some colors
- Added more sounds
- Many very small details

What I really like about tone2 is the backward compatibility- I tried out some 10 year old projects and everything works smooth.
I‘ve used electrax, nemesis, gladiator and rayblaster but also Icarus.
I‘ve reached the point where I stopped updating other plugins like Kontakt 6 to 7, because there is no advance, but I hate to have more than 3 major releases installed for backward compatibility.
Other companies are bringing out one new plugin after another instead of enhancing the existing ones.
So it’s no good news that tone2 won’t do any major releases in future.
I really liked the development from my v1 plugins, (gladiator was the only plugin I started with v2) to the actual state of development and hope they won’t retire

Hi! I just made nearly 30 wavetables using sounds sampled from u-He Repro 5. If you have the beta, you can try a few sounds included that take advantage of the ladder filter. I can also make Icarus 2-friendly versions of the sounds if you like. Enjoy!

Thanks for the Tranwaves. They remind me a lot of my old Ensoniq VFX.Korg Supporter wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2024 1:42 am Here are more wavetables based on Ensoniq transwaves.
On the subject of Wavetables, I have noticed that Icarus 2.5 does not remember custom file paths within a session.
In other words if you load a Wavetable from a custom file location outside of the Icarus file structure then go back to load another WT, Icarus forgets that custom file location and goes back to its WT file location.
This causes the need to constantly navigate back to the custom location (used by all the synths I own that allow WT loading). It's ok to forget the custom path between sessions but during a session it would really be nice for it to remember the path.
Perhaps this has been fixed in version 3 but I'll have to wait for the PC version to check. I'm bringing it up today because I'm loading the Transwave tables and the issue is occurring.

That is strange. Are you trying to load my patches? In the Icarus_wavetables folder, create a Transwaves folder and a Prophet 5 folder for their respective wavetables. Also, here's a folder containing the sound sources used for the Transwave wavetables. They were actually sampled from Arturia's SQ-80 V. Enjoy!Teksonik wrote: Fri Mar 15, 2024 1:55 pmThanks for the Tranwaves. No I'm only loading the Wavetables which I have placed in my custom folder with all the other WTs I have. All the WT synths I own reference that folder which is 13 gigs in size so I'm not going to copy or move it into the Icarus folder just because Icarus doesn't have file path persistence.Korg Supporter wrote: Fri Mar 15, 2024 2:16 pm That is strange. Off the top of my head all the other WT synths I own do have file path persistence during a session.
Again I can see going back to the Icarus factory folder when starting a new session (when first loading the plugin) but while we're working on presets during a session it would really help to have file path persistence especially if we're building a WT by loading single cycle waveforms one at a time.

There are three different ways to load wavetables to Icarus
1) The intended way to add wavetables is to create a subdirectory in Icarus_wavetables.
The path then looks like .../Icarus_wavetables/myGreatWavetables/MyWavetable.wav
You must restart the synth to make it detect the new wavetable categories.
After this you can comfortably select them from within the osc.
2) You can drag & drop wavetables or samples in .wav format to the the oscillators.
3) You can use the 'load wavetable' function.
-----------------------------------
Creating wavetables from single cycle waveforms:
You can drag & drop single cycle waves within the wavetable editor.
If I remember correctly it even works to drag&drop several single cycle waves to the osc to create a wavetable.
----------------------------
Quickly loading samples to the drum synth:
Drag and drop a sample to the slot where the sample name is

I just realized it would be nice to modulate the lfo shape. If that can't be done, I guess I'll automate it.

Here's a real quick demo I made using Icaurus and some Raum reverb. It's only 4 tracks. I guess it's ambient, or who knows.

Thanks! About the presets: Actually they are all in the synth already. For this demo, I picked some of them that I thought would fit together. Then I used automation, and a bit of reverb here and there.
