Filter Mode "New AA" stands for anti-aliasing I assume? The plug takes less than 1% CPU on my Lappy, so no problem.

The filter sounds pretty decent for my specific taste. It sounds more 3D than many newer softsynths with "good" and supposedly "accurate" filters. It kinda sounds like a really good version of "bad" but quirky old VA synth, before filters all started sounding similar.

Although the filter resonance can get real loud.

Unfortunately this is not going to happen because of dependencies (other libraries that are required to compile the plugins) and their licensing, or them being in-house code that is never going to be open-sourced.

Typical thing with older digital filters: The resonance "explodes" at some point.

Two important things to note
1) It reports only as an Effect - Not an instrument. Meaning you'll have to take appropriate measures to route MIDI to an Effect in your host (Basic instructions, for Cubase, are on the previous page of this thread.. )
2) It requires you drag the Pro 54 patch onto the GUI. You can find this here, but you MUST recreate the entire directory structure (including the GUI and worker sub dirs)

Jules is the JUCE guy and also the former Tracktion guy. Theoretically, Cmajor patches work as plugins in Waveform. In reality, though, it looks like they didn't bother to include the Cmajor DLL so Cmajor in Waveform is more of an interesting idea than something you can really try.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

REAPER:
Unfortunately the state is not properly stored in the project.
When reloading: "The patch file did not contain a valid JSON object"

It's the same with Cubase. So I don't think it's a specific host / platform issue - rather that the plugin isn't recalling the save state right now.

Hi peeps,

Just to confirm, this is all above board - as part of the agreement to spin Cmajor Software Ltd out of NI, we were assigned the rights to this port of the Pro53 synth, along with the graphics assets. The history of this project is that it was one of the tech demonstrators we built to showcase Cmajor to the engineering teams within NI.

The above bug (the patch did no contain a valid JSON object) is something we're looking at. We've sat on this synth for over a year, and not noticed this problem (because we have been busy writing the language and runtime), so one of the benefits of getting stuff out and people playing with it is to flush out issues like this.

And if you are interested in getting involved, raising issues, or writing some DSP code, come and find us on TAP on discord, or raise an issue on github. The links are in https://cmajor.dev/

How does this compare with U-he Repro? I can't imagine it being better than what I've already got.
