Can’t get the update or the new plugins to install. The installer quits after I put in my admin password. Is this the dreaded Sonoma bug I’ve heard about?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but when I try to play his FX GRID patch, it only comes out in mono mode. When I try to switch to polyphonic mode, the sound turns into some kind of clicks.Funk Dracula wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2024 3:59 pmThe Grid is multi-voice/polyphonic. You can have one voice have an LFO tweaking the drive level wobbly like crazy, then leave the other voice alone, then even pan them. So yes, you can have polyphonic distortion, among other things.Alexander137 wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2024 3:06 pmHe shows incredibly cool features. Is polyphonic distortion possible in his method? In my opinion no.

Friendly reminder, that kHs ShaperTable is currently only $19.50.Alexander137 wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2024 8:22 pmMaybe I'm doing something wrong, but when I try to play his FX GRID patch, it only comes out in mono mode. btw. That's no knock on Bitwig though. That was a pretty impressive demonstration of constructing a similar effect in this DAW.
But still, what's just under $20? ... A few cups of coffee?

Insert a Voice Mix and Voice Toggle module after the input for some basic mixing/toggle controls of the voices in the Grid. Change the voices to 2, 3, 4 etc. This creates a copy/additional instance of what you've made for each voice. Then go down to the FX Grid device modular section and open a Voice Control modulator. In this modulator's inspector is where you control each voice stacks individual parameters. So in my example like I said, you can have one voice wobbly with an LFO modulating the drive knob or whatever, and another doing something else, etc etc.
Keep in mind there is a possibility I am misunderstanding you, or this, or the entire world for that matter, so I apologize haha. I am relatively new to Bitwig still. But regardless, whatever I just described works. I tested it out really quick with just a few shapers. It's fun!
Cheers

This sounds cool and I can sense great sound design potential here but it does that thing that distortion does at heavy drive where you get loud clunks at the end of a note irregardless of envelope release settings. This makes it slightly harder to use than the Serum oscillator remap function which I think Shaper is similar to.
Definitely sounds best when used with the Fx lane in poly mode- which is not great, poly mode really boosts cpu usage.
Nice to be able to use random wavetables though and the editor is of course great.

Polarity is always so damn fast and holds such a wealth of information, much respect deserved. The new Trash thing he made is superb as well.Funk Dracula wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2024 12:22 pm Polarity strikes again.. free for Bitwig users (sort of haha.)
Bought Shapertable regardless, as it’s very quick to use and nice within Multipass/PhasePlant

But doesn’t sound great, at least in Bitwig. Phaseplant it better… sometimes. Spire has set the bar that no one’s met… yet.Funk Dracula wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2024 3:59 pmThe Grid is multi-voice/polyphonic. Crap, I just got the email on the 20th and the sale is already over?
This is why I end up buying their stuff used. Love Phase Plant, but this sort of nickel and diming is just not to my personal taste. GOOD DAY, SIR!

Distortion is one of the effects that sounds generally better not polyphonic. That's the nature of distortion, when paying on a chord, the added harmonics are generally awesome. Yet, you can still investigate and I guess find new stuffs to do.
I bought the shaper table immediately but I am on holidays overseas so I could try it thoroughly, it doesn't sound great?

I can’t talk about Avenger because lack of MPE and polyphonic aftertouch make it a hard pass for me. I can live without MPE, but not supporting the basic MIDI standard from the 1970s?Jac459 wrote: Mon Mar 25, 2024 6:56 amYou meant to say Spire and Avenger 2, I guesszerocrossing wrote: Mon Mar 25, 2024 5:43 amBut doesn’t sound great, at least in Bitwig. I missed the email. My company communicates almost exclusively with Slack, and that’s stupid, so I’m forced to focus on that. My email accounts have become spam waste lands, and I often miss things for a bit. I’m sure someone will be selling it soon, as is the nature of things. Or I can wait for a sale. Just seems silly to make your launch sale so short. Also, the launch sale seems to be about the right price for such a limited plugin. Frankly, U-He and Synapse audio release things like this as part of their synths for free all the time.

Right???? I do also care about MPE because I have a Rise2. Per-note bend and pressure is something I now use constantly. It floored me when I discovered that Avenger 2 has no PolyA or MPE. I guess I should not have been surprised. That dev really does seem to hate his customers.zerocrossing wrote: Mon Mar 25, 2024 1:53 pm I can’t talk about Avenger because lack of MPE and polyphonic aftertouch make it a hard pass for me. I don’t know if I’d say they hate their customers, but it does seem like they don’t care if you and I become their customers.teilo wrote: Mon Mar 25, 2024 4:47 pmRight???? I’ve requested polyphonic aftertouch from many developers. Most ignore me, some claim it’s too difficult, but any that listen and add it get instant purchases from me. I’m only one person, but that kind of relationship with a developer makes me very inclined to recommend them to anyone who’s interested in buying a synthesizer of similar types.

You didn't live through their copy-protection and its requirement for regular re-authorization. And the lies they told about it.zerocrossing wrote: Mon Mar 25, 2024 5:10 pm I don’t know if I’d say they hate their customers, but it does seem like they don’t care if you and I become their customers.

.....
They try to implement a vision. You can like it or not like it, it isn't really their concern.
A bit similar to Bitwig studios. They don't care much about the most voted features. They do what they want.
For me it is fine because I like their vision (I would still prefer mpe and clap support but I accept the shortcomings, considering the immense other strengths).
