so thoughtful, BONESBONES wrote:Well, if people are offerng tracks with names like beforedeath and Surfing On Asteroids, perhaps we could contribute a track from our forthcoming album KILLeveryone, although it didn't, did it? Seriously people, do you even have brains?

name change is an option if you use yours. I just suggested it because a lot of people liked it. commercial gain to help the victims is the main purpose here. I'll rename it jasmine (it's more suitable) if it gets approved. no need to get too excited BONES.BONES wrote:Well, if people are offerng tracks with names like beforedeath and Surfing On Asteroids, perhaps we could contribute a track from our forthcoming album KILLeveryone, although it didn't, did it? BONES, you make me want to submit a cover of Pixies 'Wave of Mutilation';
Seriously people, get a grip; call them what you want to call them. since when did pertinence become taboo? This is a very thoughtful idea, and I think that we can rest assured that a good song with a title that might mention something about water, surfing, or even death is perfectly acceptable. It is NOT going to be taken the wrong way;
So, how about songs that are 'untitled'? Does title sound too much like tidal?

Ben, I've posted an mp3 on my ftp site if want to check it out. It's here:
http://www.sequent7.com/ftp/
Right-click on the following filename to download:
Sequent7 tsunami cd submiss.mp3
An interesting note in light of what people have been discussing. This piece was originally released as "Hydrophobia". But the title can certainly change.
Thanks for pulling this project together.

I thought a little more about this and sat down and wrote a tune from scratch this evening, dedicated to those who lost their lives:
Journey Of The Broken Souls
Ben: I have ftp'd both the mp3 and wav to xravenx's site.

Here too.
I have already a 9.40 tune at www.globalmusicproject.com (search for - mauseoleum - and this is a sort of donationware for unicef etc.)
where to submit - as I don't have private webspace?
regarding the rules - I wasn't able to put together more commercial tune than this
http://artists.iuma.com/site-bin/mp3gen ... zimoto.mp3
PLUS I've entered a (I describe it as radio-friendly) tune for a SKNote contest ( http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 948#870948 ) , but it was somehow dissed on voting, so if it's good for a good cause it's available here

Ben,
I would like to contribute to.
Have a listen to the songs on www.karamusic.tk
Anyone you think can be used.
If there is something you like I'll send the wav file.

Glooper wrote:A group of us in the chat room were discussing ways in which we can help raise money for Asia. We came up with the idea of creating a Compilation CD of people's songs that we can then sell through KvR, with all proceeds going to a charity that is helping in Asia (Yet to be decideed).
So far we have someone organising the artwork.
We have a few people willing to donate tracks.
We have delibretely given ourselves a deadline of Tomorrow to collate all the tracks and prepare for cd pressing. So I'm asking for people's help.
You can help in the following ways:-
- Donate a track (16bit CD ready WAV files)
- Provide some server space to allow someone else to upload a track.
- Provide Pressing services / Sell to your country. Rather than having just us brits pressing and shipping across the world, I'm hoping we can get a coordinator in each country.
- provide any other ideas.
- Buy the CD when it's ready!.
Please remember that it's about selling the CD's so we really are looking for the most sellable/commercial song you have... rather than lots of 20 minute soundscape. A commitee will decideed the best tracks.
please can you only reply in this thread with any services that you can provide or with details / links to an mp3 version of your track.

here's a link to a track for consideration. it's actually another of my 'conversations' (surreal/absurdist thing). my intention with these is always to first and foremost entertain, whilst dealing with ideas beyond words - humour is my tool here but love and hope is my goal. 128kbps 5.07mins:

edit: i have a very poor understanding of what's commercial, but in these times i guess we need spirits lifted, i hope i can do that, regardless of selection. thankyou for all your endeavours.

Can I ask you to pick the one you think to be the most comercially viable. We're not going to have time to listen to all your songs and decideed your favorite.

BONES, either you didn't read my post properly or you're just being awkward, not sure which.BONES wrote:Well, if people are offerng tracks with names like beforedeath and Surfing On Asteroids, perhaps we could contribute a track from our forthcoming album KILLeveryone, although it didn't, did it? I'd already said I'd noticed the (possibly) innapropriate title after I'd chosen the track, and my reason for choosing the track in the first place, before spotting my potential faux-pas.
But, just to be sure, here's what I'd already written:
OK?Glassback wrote:Surfing On Asteroids
I'll gladly put this track in if you think it's good enough.
If you want the wav, let me know.
[EDIT]I picked this cos it's my most recent finished solo track and I quite like it.
Just realised though - maybe the title's inappropriate?
Not my intention at all - I just realised when I read through the thread.
If you think I should submit a different track, that's not a problem at all - just let me know.(
possibly, too.)
As stated here - I will galdly submit an alternative track (not sure which yet) if there's a problem with the title. Just let me know asap.
Although I have to say, the title Surfing On Asteroids has more of a Sci-Fi connotation than a natural disaster one. But I'm sensitive to these things, so if the general feeling is that it's innapropriate, I'll change it, as I say, no probs.
I dunno, sometimes you just can't do right for doing wrong round these parts can you?
