I don‘t have high hopes here, even as a non-native speaker the word „exclusively“ doesn‘t allow for interpretations.concealed identity wrote: Sun Mar 31, 2024 1:56 pmIt's possible that they still might sell these in third-party shops.
Why did you leave Studio One?

This may be the push for me to move to Reaper or Mulab or FL Studio.
Reaper and Mulab as a Plugin. Hmm!

That's my boat lately (MuLab-Reaper). I left S1 long ago: 4.xKalamata Kid wrote: Sun Mar 31, 2024 2:54 pm This may be the push for me to move to Reaper or Mulab or FL Studio.

I actually wanted to write on the last page that I couldn't imagine them going the subscription route, but, the wording definitely concerns me a bit. If they already start to make all addons exclusive to the subscription option, then at the very least, I see a two-tier system. I don't want to speculate if they go subscription only, but, that's a bad sign. Subscription would be the worst thing that could happen for me, as I'm far from being the power user which benefits the most from a subscription. It already was hard enough for me to justify a 30% off upgrade to the latest version.

I like the Mux, modular environment.
and the Patcher modular environment.
How do you use the Mulab Plugin in Reaper?
What are the top benefits?

Yep, I've been on Reaper for a few months and love it. Really pleased not to be giving PreSonus anymore money.

That's a very sad move by then. It cuts off an entire revenue stream, unless nobody is buying the standalones (not dependent upon S1) anyway.Crossinger wrote: Sun Mar 31, 2024 2:25 pmI don‘t have high hopes here, even as a non-native speaker the word „exclusively“ doesn‘t allow for interpretations.concealed identity wrote: Sun Mar 31, 2024 1:56 pmIt's possible that they still might sell these in third-party shops.
If they are moving to subchorionic only, they will probably lose some 90% of their user base. I suppose if you are Adobe, are the de facto standard and have a huge professional user base already installed, you can do this, but otherwise..,.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

The Fender CEO said after the acquisition of Presonus that the 150 pages manual of Studio One is 149 pages too much. The guy worked for Nike and Disney before and obviously has no idea of music production. If Studio One goes full subscription I am saying good bye for good. Subscription for stuff like Disney+ might be ok, but for a DAW? No thanks.

Not pleased with this move at all. I can't stand companies who force you into a more expensive subscription model to be able to use their stuff. I guess my money isn't good enough to buy directly from their website. If v7 goes full subscription, I'm done.

Reason for Reaper: Just awesome flexibility and efficiency.Kalamata Kid wrote: Sun Mar 31, 2024 4:08 pmLooking at the Reaper + Mulab Plugin or Reaper + FL Studio VSTi.liquidsound wrote: Sun Mar 31, 2024 3:18 pmThat's my boat lately (MuLab-Reaper). MuLab: Jo! Modularity and workflow.
The Matrix which is more flexible than the one in Ableton and Bitwig, gives Reaper that functionality via the MuLab app.
There is more but that becomes a personal preference down the usual rabbit hole.

Never mind that MuLab is the most useful DAW that I've ever used and I've barely scratched the surface of it. It has a single dev!
Of course, Jo is brilliant and present on the forums and very responsive...
I'll allow it.

Since moving to a silicon Mac, I’ve been toying with the idea of upgrading my S1 v5 license, but I really don’t have a use for it anymore (I’m primarily a Logic and secondarily an Ableton user) and would only ever need it for revisiting old S1 projects. But, based on this, I’ll probably just cut my losses and say goodbye to Presonus and S1.Crossinger wrote: Sun Mar 31, 2024 10:01 am Presonus has stopped the sale of all add-ons and plugins in its online store today. These are now only available exclusively with a subscription. This could be an indicator that from Studio One 7 onwards, everything will be subscription-only.
No need to leave right now (current version works after all), but don’t be surprised of the things to come…

In deed you might want to reconsider this. Studio One does not make use of all cores on the Silicon Macs. There is a very good video/test by James Zhan on YT, who tested DAWs with Silicon Macs. Winners were Reaper and Cubase, which use all available M3 performance cores and efficiency cores. Studio One as well as some other DAWs like Logic Pro (!) did not make use of all M3 cores. Which is disapponting. Look, I dont want to diss Studio One - I really like it and have used it over Cubase for the last years. But man, they really have some stuff to sort out. And they better do it quick.cryophonik wrote: Sun Mar 31, 2024 7:42 pm Since moving to a silicon Mac, I’ve been toying with the idea of upgrading my S1 v5 license, but I really don’t have a use for it anymore (I’m primarily a Logic and secondarily an Ableton user) and would only ever need it for revisiting old S1 projects.
