My feeling is as early as July but more likely S1 will be released this October.
I don‘t have any inside information, and as I said: the usual interval for major versions was 24 + x months, where x between 1 and 3. So October might be a good fit.

Rumors in the Presonus forum say that there‘s something around the corner. But nobody knows if it will be a v7 or just a v6.6.

6.6 is in my account.

That update looked like an April fool at first glance, but, looks like its legit.

More for the two tier system though:
New virtual instrument “Lead Architect” (included in Studio One+)

Ye, f**k em. This is exactly what I was afraid of what would start to happen.

Are you really interested in their synths? I have third party stuff and use the DAW for the DAW only.

Too much effort and time for Dolby/Atmos stuff where Protools or Nuendo already rules.

It‘s not about this specific synth. It is not very impressive anyway:

But I dislike the attitude.

The new features will probably trickle down after some time, after the subscribers become bored with them.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Sure, but, the point is, when I bought the highest tier Studio One version, I thought I had bought something unrestricted, unlimited, and now they begin to make more and more content Studio One+ exclusive. Which tells me that they want people to subscribe. Which tells me that, as an owner of the perpetual license, I'm a second class citizen, although I spent hundreds of €. Not a good development.

And, no, I don't really need any of that content, but, that's really not the point here. People who bought the Pro version might need or want the content, but, bummer, they have to subscribe to get it.

So, basically, Studio One Pro is not the highest tier version of Studio One anymore, and, it's also not unlimited or unrestricted. It's cut down in comparison to the subscription version. People might not even realize that when they buy it, but, they WILL realize it when they want to buy addons on Presonus' web shop, or when they see the exclusive additions to Studio One+ in the update changelogs.

You have a valid point. Guess I am lucky I bought it for the DAW only and not the payload. No pun intended.

Exactly. It amazes me that some people just don't seem to understand that. More and more development focus will go to the exclusive stuff, in order to get people to sub. With the removal of being able to buy Studio One addons outright, I was afraid this would be happening and today just confirmed it. I've seen this happen way too many times.

TBH, I rather like to keep it slim too. It's just that I'm a bit concerned what will happen next. Maybe they DO plan to go subscription only at some point. Who knows? If they already make loads of content exclusive to subscription, then subscription only might just be the next logical step for them.

They could also just go on selling the addons for the perpetual license, and make content available for both version in future update. Win-win. ;)

So they've got some new hybrid subscription + perpetual

Also I see they still didn't add support for CLAP

Wouldn‘t expect it for a .x version. v7 at soonest - if ever.

So they seem to have gone the Bitwig route with a yearly "plan". You get to keep your current version forever when your "plan" ends.
