How does a plugin go from $59 to being on sale for $89; down from $128?

I find it curious that it states that RVRB is down from a regular price of $128, where it appears that the regular price was $59.

I found this thread by searching for Abletunes in reference to a sale of a bundle of Retrotape & RVRB for $20 at APD. That seems like a good deal. I demoed them a bit and they seem nice. But with the price increase and now the APD deal they may be having business trouble... or, they raised their prices and now the APD deal is a way to get people in the door. In any case, I think I'll pick this up if they use offline activation...
Update: Abletunes said they use a keyfile requiring no internet.
