Why did you leave Studio One?

Struck a nerve, though, didn't it? It is actually quite an innocuous observation. That you have reacted so strongly to it tends to prove its truth.chk071 wrote: Fri Apr 05, 2024 10:57 pmI slowly understand why people despise you so much here. It's something I see here all the time here - people who are so completely used to everything being done to serve their needs that when something comes up, like this, that might in some slight way inconvenience them, or shows them a reality different from their perception, it becomes a huge deal. You are so used to everyone's wants and needs aligning with your own that when you encounter a situation where maybe a company is looking after someone else's wants and needs over yours, you can't deal with it rationally and you start to see a deliberate effort to force you into something you don't want or some vast conspiracy holding you back. It's all ridiculous.

Just hate everybody with equal passion. It's easier that way.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

How ironic, especially coming from you.

So you use Artist to feel more like a real artist, makes sense.BONES wrote: Fri Apr 05, 2024 10:53 pmNo, it is short for "Professional"Everyone knows that Pro means all the bells and whistles

They should come out with a Dilettante version. For all the, you know, non-professional, non-artist types.

1. Artist is $99 2. Pro is $149 upgrade $399 new . 3. Perpetual / hybrid $179 a year but you get to keep perpetual when canceled the add-ons and fluff (sphere replacement)? 4. Subscribe $19.99 a month or on and off . It's all kind of similar to Bitwig , Avid , and Reason+ . These kind of business models probably cut down on license transfers where the company doesn't make any money or I think Presonus makes $25 at one time . I think the $19.99 a month rental thing is cool . Like a paid demo .

Here is a lazy Sunday thought.
It appears Fender does not really know what to do with S1. So best they sell it to someone who has a plan. To SSL!
Why SSL? When you see what they are doing with 360 one anyway gets the impression that they’re on a mission to developing a full fledged virtual recording environment. The S1 acquisition would leapfrog a lot of the steps necessary to completing this. And the combination of SSL 360 / SSl channel strips / SSL effects / SSL mastering plugins / SSL controllers (!) in conjunction with a modern, modular DAW could create the best virtual recording platform on planet earth. Oh, and SSL Fusion mastering integration would just be a click of a mouse. Or a button on UC1.
Just a lazy Sunday thought…

There's plenty of Studio One 6.6 videos popping up, and browsing the comment sections of these videos shows a lot of unhappy customers, a lot of them leaving Studio One for Cubase, etc. This video isn't about leaving for Cubase, as that was decided before this debacle and more about slow lackluster updates since Fender took over. But, he does make some good points about why they want to push you to the subscription model.

Well, we live in hysteric, exaggerated times. People seem to look for the slightest fly in the ointment for a change. Yes, it sucks that they want to push the subscription schemes, but, if you view it realistically, not much really changed for people who own the perpetual license.
Unless they go full subscription, I don't see the need for a switch.
