No, I am talking about its color. Dynamically-wise it can be spikey, not grabbing the initial transient soon enough and that is my main complaint as I mostly use it in treating spoken word.

Btw if you want all the classic comps etc. then McDSP 6050 is a good deal.

I have the UA La-2a, IK White, NI VC-2a and Cubase’s Tube compressor. All of these sound really good but different. I am digging Cubase’s stock compressors more these days and find I’m often choosing these over the paid ones I’ve purchased.
Whilst all these compressors sound great, I still prefer my modded Klark Teknik KT-2a. There’s something about the sound of this that I can’t find in a vst compressor.

Opto cell mod? Kenetek T4b? or T4BLA? Or something else?

I like the NI LA2A because it has ultra low / no latency.

I also own IK LA2A and while there is a difference it doesn’t seem all that obvious to me.

It's not too bad. Doesnt model hardware sound but does job as a compressor.
