It is in a strange place probably for many, but I think where it shines is for those who want to produce on a computer with the arturia instruments and then take those sounds live. They could then load the same sound from the same sound engines into the keyboard and play live. For that it is probably a really simplistic workflow.
I was just comparing what you can get in that price bracket, apart from this niche you've mentioned, I don't really see why anybody who doesn't meet these specific requirements would want to buy it but surely Arturia would like to onboard "new" folk with this undesirable frankensynth

I have a very hard time imagining actual professional gigging musicians choosing this over a typical Yamaha, Roland, Korg, Kurzweil or Nord keyboard as they are tried and tested over decades.

Hmm.. I really do not see this as being a good value proposition for anybody. We'll see.

I think its a cool keyboard, but I have no use for it. Looks good, I like the little screen, what it does sounds nice, but I dont have any creative or physical space for this.

Is it MIDI 2.0?
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

That they are not advertising it loudly tells me no it is not Midi 2.0.

Is that a Google Nest thermostat in the middle? At least that adds to the value proposition if it can control the temperature of my house.

Well, I’m not placing any bets on it being a success :hihi:

I do think there’s room considering what it offers especially if the person playing has come from using Arturia plugins before gigging.

As a performer, there’s an advantage in not need to learn new hardware, and another advantage in using sounds you already know.

BUT… that obviously is just the Arturia V collection user who’s going to get out the damn house to go play live in front of people. Not sure how big that market is.

So it's a glorified preset player .
Eyeball exchanging
Soul calibrating ..frequencies

If it had more controls and worked more like the Roland System8 it would be great, it falls short on everything, specially for the price.

I'm 100% certain they're using the same hardware!

They have the single pic up with the “home” icon on the display.

They must really love it, but seems strange to me.

Perfect for turning up the AC when you've been rocking those Analog Lab presets so hard you start to break a sweat. Which is a thing that happens to me frequently  In all seriousness, seems like a rare misstep from Arturia. They should have made a SuperFreak instead.

I can see the thought process. Since people so often just tweak macros then a macro-tweaker is what they need, surely? But need is not the same thing as want. I reckon if they had added some basic oscillator controls it would seem a lot more appealing.

That's not how it works. ;)

There's also no need to complicate things. $2000 = the prize Arturia has set for this keyboard. Either works or it doesn't.

I'm rather surprised that there is a target audience for something like this. And a big one, obviously, as big as this announcement, and the background theme (25 years Arturia) is.
I’m aware most things cost half or less to produce than they’re sold for, just pointing out that anybody with a little bit of computer skills could frankenstein something way more capable together for about half the price

Premise is totally confusing it’s a pretty gimped preset player and you need a phone or a computer to really get into the presets

So is the Mellotron, shrug. Hell this thing has a Mellotron in it, yeah? I wonder how the current Mellotron is going to fare with this thing costing hundreds less.
