Sonicstate gave it a positive review. Not my cup of tea was hoping for something more along the drum machine line (software or hardware) or a full on Pigments hardware synth but wish them well with it

So is a MODX and so is a Nautilus and a Montage and a KronosVitaminD wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 4:00 pm This would be great for connecting up in a studio to a pc, working out your songs, then unplugging and not having to take the pc and audio interface. It's just one board, one power plug, one power button. done. It will simplify setups for some.
Arturia said this would be "A new era awaits, and you're invited to witness its dawn.
Step into the future with #Arturia as we go beyond..."
Is a pretest keyboard that you're can't edit really a new era? Is this really the future?
Will they sell a few units? Sure. Will it flop sure

Arturia sponsored that video (he even says as much at the start). So probably not the most unbiased video one might find.

I'm still annoyed that they aren't listing the specs of the thing. It's a keyboard with a built in computer for live use, it has RAM and a storage drive, it has specs.
One thing that "almost" sold me on Push 3 was that they made it upgradable, this has no mention of that, and I haven't forgotten the Origin. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/ar ... n-keyboard

It's probably closer to the Korg synths where it has a built in pc (raspberry pi in that case) but isn't upgradable. Korg didn't really announce the specs either, it was discovered later during an end user's synth deconstruction.machinesworking wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 6:54 pm I'm still annoyed that they aren't listing the specs of the thing. The Push 3 is neat in that but the price for the upgrade is 1050 USD. So quite steep. And there is currently still only 1 upgrade kit -- to move non-standalone Push 3 to standalone.

Yeah, that's the point though, in a couple years there will be a more powerful computer for Push 3. It's not going to happen at breakneck pace.VitaminD wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 7:02 pmIt's probably closer to the Korg synths where it has a built in pc (raspberry pi in that case) but isn't upgradable. My point is more about the fact that Arturia will be releasing new plugins, and if it's a limited RAM and drive spec the same thing will happen with this that happened to the Origin, new plugins will not get integrated, and eventually it disappears. Sorry I wasn't clear about that, but this is why specs are great, and why the upgradability of the Push 3 is a good thing, 4 years from now new embedded plugins in Live will be able to be used in Push 3.

That's not happened though. Ableton stated they might supply performance upgrades for Push 3 in the future. I could see them releasing a Push 4 instead. But we'll see.machinesworking wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 7:26 pmYeah, that's the point though, in a couple years there will be a more powerful computer for Push 3. That said, even if they do, they're the only ones doing that for now. So I wouldn't really get upset at Arturia for not including swappable parts now. Maybe in an Astrolab 2 or 3?

They give the specs heremachinesworking wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 6:54 pm I'm still annoyed that they aren't listing the specs of the thing. It's a keyboard with a built in computer for live use, it has RAM and a storage drive, it has specs.

https://support.arturia.com/hc/en-us/ar ... MIDI-chart
It's a 64 bit ARM processor with 6 cores running at 1.8GHZ. It has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage
That would not be a Raspberry PI. It sounds more like an embedded Windows 11 embedded system, running on an off the shelf motherboard system
That would make sense for Arturia as they wouldn't have to port anything and could just use the Windows software they already have
From a hardware design perspective that would be easy to implement as they could use the innards from one of their existing Audi Fuse interfaces for the Audio and MIDI Up and just send that to the motherboard via USB. Those have a USB hub also just like on the back of the Astro Lab. The same would go for the keyboard and knobs. That is exactly what Korg does on Kronos and Nautilis only they run a custom Linux variant. Those are different than the Raspberry Pi based Korg Wavestate and Opsix as it would need more horse power

JMO, but that CPU/RAM sounds pretty weak. Hopefully it's upgradeable. Definitely not worth the asking price to me now.IvyBirds wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 8:16 pmThey give the specs heremachinesworking wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 6:54 pm I'm still annoyed that they aren't listing the specs of the thing. If Arturia can add a small add on separate midi controller for deeper control I can see this being a winner. Some people will be fine with the stage piano, and never need anything more than a few knobs. I'm gonna pick up one to gig with my 88 key and just assign midi parameters to one of my small midi controllers.
