I'm in need of graphic software,,last night on ebay all of Adobe products were offered in one big box for $120us.
Emailed the chap about serial #'s,,his responce was he bought them used and didn't know about registering them, but he gave me the numbers to check.
I went to the Adobe site ,fed the numbers in and they seem to go thru.
Still being paranoid I went to a friends place and promptly registered the same numbers there under a different name,,so that part seemed bogus because no Adobe id was ever sent.
By the time I got home the box was sold for $126,,,a steal!!
Am I right to be so cautious,,cause I just tried to get support on the serial and Adobe wanted an id with that number..

confused on this whole subject :? :?

Adobe dont do all of their products in one box.

Yes. And your caution just saved you about $127. :-)

Does a deal sound too good to be true? It usually is.

Read feedback -- not just the pluses or minues; it's easy to buy a hundred one-cent ebooks and get heaps of positives. Look at the negatives and check previous sales. (Is the same person selling the same item over and over, each time for a ridiculously low price? Big clue there.)

It's possible to get good deals on eBay, but be sure of all your info before you buy. Sounds to me as if you did that, and saved yourself a big disappointment.

Although eveything was version 5,,so older but good enough for me,,it showed a pic of a big square Adobe box...but ya ,,who knows..

thanx Meffy..You hit the nail on the head,,I noticed some Adobe software says unregistered.
I wonder if you could just email them and ask about a certain serial...
Also some sales bid for a week and some are put up for immediate sale,,maybe stuff thats up for a week is more likely to be legit,,just because theres more time to check.....

I bought Illustrator used and the transfer of the license went without any problems BUT:

I got the full license info from the seller (name, addresse, license number etc), and sent the info at verify@adobe.com. They replied the same day that the license info was legit, and that it was a full license (as opposed to educational, for which I don't qualify).

Then I followed this procedure: http://www.adobe.com/support/salesdocs/1000554.html

Took about a month for Adobe to process the license transfer, but now the license is fully in my name, upgradeable and all.

Each software company has different requirement and procedure for license transfer, better check with them first (hell, some cook companies don't even allow license transfer).

In my case, the seller sent me all the original material (disk, manual etc...), then I made the payment, then the seller faxed the relevant documentation to Adobe. This is a sequence for you and the seller to discuss, but an amount of trust as to be established between the both of you at some point  .

As a wild generalization, buying software off of eBay is tremendously risky, and I would not do it. You can find some deals, but lots of guys are just going to send you a CD-R that they just burned, even if they claim it is "new, unregistered".

But, I have had good luck buying software from this forum. If someone is a regular, it's unlikely they are here to sell a few warez. Try to find a similar forum for graphics software.

I've had a couple of great buys on software at ebay;
and I've been kind of burned a couple of times.
I don't get my software there anymore..
