Yes, good one. Neutron 4 is fantastic. I think it suffers from not having come out of the gates strong, the current version is amazing.

Neutron 3 is my favourite all in one solution....
No auto tune...

Neutron is great, but I wouldn’t classify it as a “budget option”

What's changed? I remember looking into it a while back and it seemed like it was good, but that getting a used license of 3 Advanced would be a better bang for the buck. Is that no longer the case?

Sorry, I don't really know Neutron 3, all I know is Neutron 4 is a lot better than Neutron 1.

Good point. It flies over the radar of many people. :)

The Fuse Audio Labs channel strip goes on sale regularly and has great sound and really nice grouping feature https://fuseaudiolabs.com/#/pages/product?id=301012112

Kilohearts Snap Heap. They have a really nice sound.

I reserve channel strips for where I am emulating a console in my signal flow. I don't use one if I'm not specifically emulating a console, and I always use one where I am. So where that would be in my processing chain is:

Preamp→Multi-track tape→Console→Master tape

Which channel strip I use is going to depend on stylistic considerations, but it's pretty much always going to be one of the SSLs from Brainworx. 80% of the channels will be the 4000 E, and 20% will be the 4000 G, for a mix-and-match console, which is common to come across in studios. If I'm doing something orchestral, then I'll use the 9000 J instead.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Just to touch on earlier, i agree Neutron doesn't get enough respect. The Exciter module IMO sounds just as good as Saturn 2, minus the modulation. Its a great plugin for shaping sounds. I also think the Compressor is really good for a clean digital compressor.

For a more traditional / analog style channel strips, I really like the 9000J from Brainworx. And as an obvious answer, Scheps Omni Channel is also great.

When it comes to creative fx, its hard to beat the Effectrack from Soundtoys. Kilohearts Snap Heap is also great. I use it daily for job in game sound design.

This is absolutely crazy, but I forgot how useful the Effectrack was! My search is over, cause the best channel strip is already in my library. And their UIs are not up to current standards, but I don't care, because sound-wise, they're my favorites.

I do worry though with Soundtoys support if I'll be able to use it in the future. I hope their company is doing well, because their tools are big investments.

But yeah, instead of making this post, I could have just opened my Effectrack. I do hate the big Superplate "NO LICENSE" banner which can't be removed.

That's what I meant though? Everyone has different tastes. I would love an Arturia Channel Strip in 500-series style UI, but that's all I could think of.
