Besides UA Ocean Way Studios what are some similar room plugins that work well to widen a narrow or mono source ?
Ocean Way sounds great but is not native.
I also have UA Hitsville Reverb Chambers, but these are more of reverbs than short rooms.

Eventide has great Stereo Room and SP-2016 products, as well several other high quality effect plugins.

Unreal but cool effect (in small amounts) is the Korneff Wow Thing. Inexpensive, too. Widener only.

Its only for the distorted signal, i.e. very limited use. I have asked the developer a more versatile demo, but in 3 weeks time no such has been created.

If you use IK products then there is Fame and Sunset Sound, also Farm Stone Room. I also like Valhalla Room for small rooms, as well as the already mentioned Eventide SP2016.

One of our free plugins Fumigate does exactly this! You can get it here on KVR or our website. It's a multi-band stereo expander. For subtle effects, I would recommend utilizing the stereo spread section.

Not verb, but I sometimes use PA bx_Stereomaker or Plugin Boutique StereoSavage to generate width for my mono synths.

Try Cubase's Revelation. It can do ER/Tail balance.
