I’m excited for Icarus 3, but “most powerful synthesizer ever?” I’m not even sure it’s the most powerful synthesizer from Tone2.

It must be, says so on the T2 website, and they wouldn't lie.

Now what we need is for tone2 to make their synth collection compatible with native instruments NKS , it would be a game changer , great work markus:-)

Probably worth waiting until they update to V3. I'm sure it won't be long.
Yes NKS for Icarus 3 aren't out yet but I am sure there will be at some point, however the question was in reference to the whole Tone2 catalogue

I would love to hear some figures about how powerful it is, like an Intel Processor. Like is it 3.5 GHz, and does it have some benchmarks?

All joking aside, I think sound is what is most important, and while I won't be buying version 3.0, my copy of version 2.5 is pretty amazing, one of the best wavetable synths for sure.

Deadly thanks bud , do you have any info on mapping the synth on my midi controller? I use a native instruments kontrol mk3 controller
That’s what the NKS versions enable - they already have a mapping template setup
Deadly that is exactly what I was looking for!

It's now been recategorised as one of the most powerful synths ever :D Which seems a fairly reasonable claim considering its features.

It is

Boasting 62 types of synthesis....

A bit odd it lists all the common ones that most synths have, but is extremely vague about the others....
Many other innovative synthesis-modes, exclusive to Icarus
You would think they would be a big selling point, so why not say a bit more? Or is it just a case of 'you have to try it to get the gist'?

Price is decent, thought it was 199, but shows 160 ish.

For me it is the best sounding... and very noticeably so...

My biggest gripes are that there are way more lowpass than high and bandpass filter types, and the synced delay times are too fast. Other than that, Icarus (along with Hive 2) is what I use the most for music or just sound design. Unless you want Omnisphere and Falcon for cinematic multi-sampled sounds, I think you should look no further than Hive and Icarus. I sold my Repro license after finding that I could use analog drift and the Ladder filter to make Prophet-style sounds (and the AM filter makes a great replacement for polymod or filter fm).

As the most powerful synthesizer id say it is quite lacking unison and cross mod.

It's definitely not the most powerful download line ... downloader tells me that it's 3h remaining at 26 kb/s. This is so year 2000. Anyway well spent time on a great synth. Looking forward to check it out in about 3 hours.

Or stupid!
Icarus offers a bunch of unisono modes since day one ... For Icarus2 Click on the "tab" like field to the bottom left of each osc (I think it says "stereo" after you open the synth), it gives you more than enough options to select from.

it doesn't have to be 'the most' anything. it's just really great, and it's in my 'big 5' plugin group... the synths i use the most.
