Professional user here with a high end custom built Windows machine. I grew up on Windows, migrated to Mac and migrated back again. Too many compatibility and upgrade issues on Mac. Pluses and minuses on both platforms, the end result is identical, but I can use any plugin I want. The Mac > Windows argument is childish. We'll be arguing about iOS v Android next.

I think Mac is still the industry standard. So is Pro Tools. An Arturia JX-8P would support both. And VST3, too. PG-8X supports none of the above.

Agreed. Maybe some other developer is willing to help with portingramseysounds wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 10:21 amPG-8X is developed by a singular person who probably has a day job? Windows is far more popular than Mac. How about cut him some slack for developing a FREE vst?

I still use it on my Mac, in Ableton Live 11 running in Rossetta mode. Works fine. If I run Live 12 in non-rosetta, it's unavailable, which is certainly unfortunate. But when I really need this synth, I have a way to use it.
If the rest of you really need to fully derail this into another windows vs mac fight...![Well Done ](./images/smilies/icon_clap.gif)

Then use the Arturia JX-8P and stop whining about PG-8X.

C/R, dongles & other intrusive copy protection equals less-control & more-hassle for consumers. Company gone-can’t authorize. Limit to # of auths. Instability-ie PACE. Forced internet auths. THE HONEST ARE HASSLED, NOT THE PIRATES.

Most of us have simply moved beyond this long ago abandoned plugin. We’re talking about other developers like Arturia and TAL who could do a JX-8P instead, at this point. There’s no slack to cut PG-8X because it’s simply not a consideration anymore.ramseysounds wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 10:21 amPG-8X is developed by a singular person who probably has a day job? Yes, I know.
But for me, posting here seemed to be the only chance to get in contact w/ ML.
No Facebook on my end.

Not on the planet I live on. You wouldn't believe the anarchic revolt that broke out recently in my office when our IT department decided in their infinite wisdom that all new hires, including executives, would be issued Dell XPS laptops and not MacBook Airs and Pros. People were literally threatening to quit even though it didn't affect them. LOL.
And these were "nice" XPS laptops and not some plastic POS Acer abominations.
So no, Windows is not "far more popular than Mac" unless you are literally forced to use a PC either by fiat or insanity.

Dear Martin Lunder and JX-8P users,
I was wondering if you could address this question to me. Can the JX-8P read JX-3P Sysex Presets? I have looked up online and all over the Internet and found nothing to answer my question. If anyone has any knowledge of this question I would be gratefully appreciated for your help with gratitude.
I think that PG-8X 2.0 VSTi Plug-in is the one of the best representations of an emulation for the JX-8P Synth.
Sincerely Yours,
Kevin

The JX-8P and JX-3P have somewhat different architectures, with the JX-3P being some two years older than the 8P. Because of that, the JX-3P is a little more "basic", with no velocity sensitivity and fairly basic MIDI implementation, for example. They also store the patches slightly differently.kevingriffin wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 1:06 am Dear Martin Lunder and JX-8P users,

And I'll go you one better and say I think the PG-8X VSTi is the best representation of an emulation for the JX-8P. It is, after all, the only one (so far).
