I am 99.9% confident it is true, all posts about it have been deleted from the Electronoughts site within minutes of being posted- that doesn't happen for rumours Its been seen and snapped on several shops sites as well (also this, something is happening! https://www.elektronauts.com/news/598)

All true (happened before with the displays and we just got new screen models!). I am enjoining my Syntakt 'as is' but I hope for a few more engines and I think it is 'possible' that it could go to 128 steps (as its wont take a lot of additional memory given its not samples). Not sure they will ever add samples (obviously I hope they do) but if anything now there is a Digitakt MK2 it is more likely as that is now a real premier sampler and the Syntakt having limited mono (maybe low bit) samples won't cannibalise their own market...egbert101 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 12:50 pm I mean, the MKII is likely indicating an upgraded CPU so stocks of the old hardware are dropping. This happened with their earlier machines and it happened to Korg. So they're basically forced into upgraded hardware so may as well add additional features. More effects, but in the case of Syntakt an opportunity perhaps to add 8-bit or 12-bit sample engines (I know this is some major wishful thinking but the possibility is there). Even so, a Syntakt MKII is a logical progression, and yes, I'll happily wait for it rather than buy one now (I've been pondering buying one for months at this point.).
I strongly suspect based on past actions when the new Digitakt MKII ( ) comes out there will be some free firmware updates for the other boxes...I hope so anyway

make ...what ?
edit: whats coming ?
DT2 will stand or fall for me with its file+audiosamples exchange and backup capabilities.
DT was missing a "collect samples"* feature. Thats for me a mandatory one.
A thing i also just stumbled upon with my new VST Drummmies (Triaz)
my first Triaz project is allready nolonger loading correctly, since it misses samples.
Thats exactly what kills the gear for me. is it HW or SW.
Plus: Those 8 bars won´t be that much fun to programm things more into details without any loop selection for edit works. Which would also become handy for jamm works. Well, we could just continue to use less bars, no ?

Drum kits on DT mk2 are another feature that I’ve wanted, so yeah, it’s a day one purchase for me.
That’s been my dream for Syntakt since day one, so my fingers are crossed. I mean, they gave it the same 1GB drive that DT mk1 has for reason, right?SLiC wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 1:51 pm Syntakt…Not sure they will ever add samples (obviously I hope they do) but if anything now there is a Digitakt MK2 it is more likely as that is now a real premier sampler and the Syntakt having limited mono (maybe low bit) samples won't cannibalise their own market...

Yeah, I think you’re right, especially if some of these improvements make it to the original version via firmware. I just checked my local Craigslist and suddenly there are 10 Digitakts for sale starting at $450 USD, which is about $100 less than the recent averages. I’ll probably just keep mine for a bit after buying a mk2 and see if the prices rebound.

That's the least interesting feature for me... 64 was plenty, especially with a song mode

The reason I say 8-bit or 12-bit samples is that it's an excuse to add lofi samples while not necessarily damaging Digitakt sales. Or if they keep it 16-bit with mono, I'd be happy with that too.
But anyway, surely this is all good news for those who love these Elektron products that they're given a refresh.

...and trig conditions and chance.
That said, I'll gladly take 128 steps and probably end up using all 128 more than I expect,... and then find myself wishing that my ARmk2, Syntakt, and Digitone had it, too!
