Pre-printed CDRs and CD Booklets

Anyone know where I can get some pre-printed CDR's (I'll burn them myself) with the name of my CD printed on it, and maybe where I can get my CD booklets printed? I suppose I could sneak the booklet through the office laser color printer for free, but I'm gonna make 200, so that's a lot of booklets to put together (and to sneak around and do). Any ideas who does this stuff cheap?
It's better to burn out...than it is to um..to um...well, something, anyway...

Most new inkjet printers have a cradle for printing CD's. You can get 'em for not much over $100. Then you just need printable CD's which are a dime a dozen. Any printer [as in printing company] can print booklets. I can send you a PDF template if you like.

Would a cheap inkjet printer print right to the edge of the printable area, or would you be left with white margins? Or does it just spill over onto the plastic?
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Bones is right. Probably be cheaper in the long run to buy a printer with a cd tray and printable cds than to pay someone else. You could use the Fellows Neato system to print the cd J card insets and booklets(available at any Best Buy Comp USA etc).

I have my DVD's replicated there:
http://www.duplication.ca/index.htm
Their shortest Cd's run is 250 if I remember correctly. For $1.90 a disc, you get:
# glass master
# CD replication
# prepress and cd label films
# 2 color silkscreening on disc
# color inserts and tray cards (4 color front/black inside)
# jewel box
# assembling and "fold" wrap
# Ground transport in the USA included (lower 48 )
They also do barcode for a small extra. You get a shrinkwrapped, professionaly pressed CD that's ready to sell for about 2 1/2 time cheaper than doing it yourself on a shitty inkjet.

Not if you want 1000 copies of 3 different CD's. I still maintain that in the LONG RUN doing it yourself would be cheaper. Doesn't Kinkos offer shrink wrapping if you really need that for a finished product?
Actually for $1.40 each for a thousand that's not a bad deal but then it's $1400.00 and 3 different cd's would be $4200 (plus shipping?) I still say that over the long run you could save money by doing it yourself. Same quality or not is another question.

Well, everybody is free to do their own cost assessement; I did mine, and that's the (conservative) result I got. Ink for inkjet is very expensive, so is paper, and burned CD's are not that reliable; I've got 2 year old Cd's here that are unreadable as the pigment has discolored, and I've got two 8 months old DVD's (Princo) that are unreadable also. They are better quality blank CD's and DVD's (gold or silver backed), but they also cost more. Don't forget also that the ink from inkjet tend to bleed on CD's if exposed to humidity, and react very badly on paper if exposed to sunlight.Teksonik wrote:Not if you want 1000 copies of 3 different CD's. 1000 CD's, I wouldn't even think about it and would have them done in a replicating house, even 250. But that's just me

I was just at the site and they seem to have a 10 disk minimum. 100 with laser or silkscreen for $222. 10 for about $65. Includes jewel box, printed insert and tayo yuden disk.
another part of the site has charts with a 100 disk
minimum.
They are burned, not pressed.
On second look, the tables with prices are for cd-rom.
I'm a bit confused by the site.

bubblejet ink is VERY cheap
about 8$ for 2, you can also get good qaulity branded cd's.
ink running may only be a problem using inkjet on disk but thermal black on silver is fine.
I am sure for big runs a dupe company makes sense but for 50x's runs it does not.

Are you talking about the link I provided? If so, you are mistaken; they offer silkscreen blank CD's, that's CD with the image of your choice already printed from a silkscreen machine and that you can use after to burn anything you want on them; but that's not what I was talking about.PT wrote:I was just at the site and they seem to have a 10 disk minimum. 100 with laser or silkscreen for $222. 10 for about $65. I was talking about disc duplication service, which is done from a glass master; the disc are pressed, not burned, then packaged.
