Hello....still new to the softsynth scene here. I've got a small studio with great hardware synths and digital recording gear that I don't plan to part with, however:
After reading about this great website and all the freebies out there, I took the plunge. I downloaded Tracktion and about 10 softsynths and samplers. (I'm running a P4 2.6 Ghz with 512M RAM by the way.)
My question--how good is Tracktion? Yes it was free, but will it be adequate for experimentation purposes and be able to host my softsynths without major incident?

nothing wrong with tracktion! if you have any questions about it in particular, you might post in the raw audio forum.

btw, it's only free because they're fixing to come out with tracktion2, and they want to hook you in. it's a quality program.
you might want to limit the amount of synths you download, as it can get overwhelming, and er, somewhat addictive.

Make sure to check out Synth1 then. Extremely efficient in terms of CPU useage, great sound (IMO).trappist wrote:Yeah.....I've discovered that, dad. So much available for free. I really like Crystal a lot, but it's extremely CPU intensive.
Run it through a bunch of some free FX (Kjaerhus Classic Series are very nice for a start) and I'm sure you'll be pleased.
Just get some of the Synth1 soundbanks from here or Patch Arena as well.

Hey-speaking of Patch Arena, I registered there like any site, and never got any email confirmation. This normal? Guess I'll do it again.
