SERUM VS VITAL

For me it is a no brainer.. Serum is in my Prime Time Template, Vital has not even being used in any of my new projects for over a year. And in those that I used them for it was only because of Sound Author's fantastic presets...

Same here with a slight difference: I bought the Sound Author preset for fun and for supporting him. He's an amazing sound designer. I wish he would have done some work for Serum (like The Unfinished). It would be "faster than an Instant" purchase
Serum is my primary tool of production.

Interestingly as I was typing this, I was thinking maybe I should try to cajole him into doing a Serum soundbank, but it may make more sense to wait on Serum 2 before he does that.

But yes I think he is an amazing sound designer too.

Vital is supposed to be more powerful, yet I never quite clicked with it. I've always wondered why that was, maybe just because Serum was my first synth love.

Exactly the same here. (Though I went Zebra then Serum)

For me, I think the problem with Vital is that the gui seems too... how to put it... knocked together, quickly and cheaply.

A proper skin edit can make a lot of difference in that regard. But for me, Vital’s workflow is unparalleled. It flows so logically and the whole modulation system is so quick and accessible.

Vital was the best purchase I ever made as far as synths go, and I've paid a small fortune on synths both hardware and software over the years for many.

The workflow in Vital is unparalleled: there's no other synth out there that jives as complimentary to how I think than Vital. When creating and manipulating sounds, I've yet to be stumped with a sound I wanted to create or mimic.

Far as how Vital sounds vs Serum, the same far as I can tell they're extremely similar in that regard (as most of you know). However Serum workflow is not my cup of tea, so Vital blows serum out of the water in my book, because its vastly more approachable with sound design.

Of all of the synths I've purchased Vital is the one that just clicks with me. I'm coming up with sounds that I coulnd't have dreamed up and would have no chance of making, even if Serum is fully capable of making the same sound, I just wouldn't have been able to do it. There is no best synth other than the one that clicks for you.

Even if Vital is better than the current Serum, I think Serum 2 will put Vital to shame and be worth the free update.
